My husband has a job interview tonight for a part time job at a shop. He is meant to be messaging me when he's done so I can pick him up.

I'd assumed the interview would last maybe up to an hour. It was at 6.15pm and I haven't heard anything yet, more than 2.5 hours later. The shop closes at 5.30 so it can't be that he's doing a trial.

I'm starting to worry but trying not to. Could an interview for a part time shop job really last nearly 3 hours?

Why don't you just call/text him?

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 10/08/2017 20:56

Call him maybe?

bogofeternalstench · 10/08/2017 20:56

I sent him a WhatsApp which has been delivered but not read. I don't really want to call just in case he is still in the interview because obviously that wouldn't be great.

No it wouldn't have you called him? He's probably with a friend or gone to the pub

bogofeternalstench · 10/08/2017 20:58

He doesn't have any friends. That sounds bad but he's American and moved over here fairly recently so hasn't had the chance to get to know people yet.
Going to the pub would be very unlike him.

He got the job, he's gone the pub to celebrate.

PurpleDaisies · 10/08/2017 20:59

That is really odd. I'm not a worrier but I would be concerned too.

SheldonsSpot · 10/08/2017 21:00

Why wouldn't you just call him?

Of course he's not still in the interview nearly 3 hours later, it's for a part time job in a shop, not NASA.

Motoko · 10/08/2017 21:01

Just call him. He won't still be in the interview.

TheUpsideDown · 10/08/2017 21:01

Maybe he's got the job and they want him to start ASAP, so he's being taught some stuff out of hours like using the till, stock taking etc?

IdentifiesAsASloth · 10/08/2017 21:02

Call him

IdentifiesAsASloth · 10/08/2017 21:02

It is a bit odd but there could be a number of reasons.

MiaFarrowsWheelbarrow · 10/08/2017 21:03

Maybe it was a group interview in that he and a whole load of other people are being assessed together in one room for things such as team building, leadership skills, communication skills etc. They can take ages to get through as they will be set tasks and challenges.

Crunchymum · 10/08/2017 21:03

Call, put your mind at ease.

Call him. He should have been done hours ago! Even if not they're not gonna turn him down for a job because his phone rang!!

user53592952153 · 10/08/2017 21:05

Phone him. He's not going to be in the interview now.

nancy75 · 10/08/2017 21:07

There is no way any kind of retail interview is still taking place, the only slightly possible thing would be they have got him to do a trial on the shop floor ( isn't Thursday late night shopping in most places?) but it would be over by now

MumsOnCrack · 10/08/2017 21:07

I hope he's back safe and sound by now.Flowers

SandyDenny · 10/08/2017 21:07

What kind of shop is it - a large chain or a local shop?

A large chain might be interviewing lots of people and he might be waiting his turn

seven201 · 10/08/2017 21:09

Just call him

JaneEyre70 · 10/08/2017 21:15

Could his phone battery have died? Has he got any way of getting home without you?

PossibiliTea · 10/08/2017 21:17

If you are worried just call

MsHarry · 10/08/2017 21:21

Just call him, as it's been so long anyone would understand. My DD went for an interview for a part time job, I waited outside. She was 4HOURS as they'd got her to work a trial shift.

MsHarry · 10/08/2017 21:22

Can you drive over to the shop to see if lights are on etc?
