CF queue jumpers

I brought my two children to a shopping centre today to visit the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Bus. The queue was ridiculously long, but they were not put off despite my best efforts. Anyway, we queued for about an hour and a half, and fair play, they were good as gold. As we're practically all the children in the queue. Had a nice chat with the woman in front. Not an ideal way to spend the holidays, but not awful either.

Anyway, we were right at the front, next ones in when this little girl (about 6 I would guess) had seperated herself from her family and come up to the front to play with one of the toys they had there. As we were going to be going in I said "you'd better head back to your Mum", and her Mum came over and said the woman managing the queue " she's made her own way up here, can she head in with this lot". Before the woman had chance to answer I said "no" and she turned to me and was "what's it got to do with you, it's not your our place to tell me". Anyway, she was right it wasn't my place and I didn't want to get into a row, and the MLP woman said no anyway.

AIBU to be annoyed? Should I have just kept my gob shut and let the MLP woman deal with it? I was just so cross at the cheekiness of it.

I had a car one the other day.

Group of 8 cyclists on windy country road. No chance to overtake as lots of tight blond corners and when on a short straight they were going at around 30mph and oncoming traffic etc.

Bloke behind getting closer and closer to me, so I slow down to back him off etc. Dangerous as I'm needing to check behind me and not just in front.

A gap comes up where I can overtake both groups (the cyclists had sensibly split into two groups with one car length between them to make overtaking easier). I go to pull out and the chap behind is trying to overtake me and the cyclists. Very dangerous. No indication etc.

I blocked him off, flipped him the bird, and continued. Prick.

AtHomeDadGlos · 10/08/2017 06:53

Blind corners, not blond

CashelGirl · 10/08/2017 07:14

Cheeky fuckers everywhere. In our party bus queues, ordinary bus queues, tubes, supermarkets and on our roads! Next time I will roar!

A woman did this to me in boots while there was a line for the self service checkouts.

Just walked straight past all of us. Given it turned out she didn't know how to use them so had to turn around and ask for help from us !

I said "Well I'd have started by not bragging past this line of people waiting myself" then didn't bother helping her as a till became free ...Grin

Youcanttaketheskyfromme · 10/08/2017 07:23

*barging

CuppaSarah · 10/08/2017 07:24

I'm just jumping in to say that bus is amazing I didn't know it was touring again! I mean it's a bit shit and a slight let down inside, but it's also fab and lovely!

Hmmalittlefishy · 10/08/2017 07:28

I think you were right to say you minded as otherwise the MLP staff would have assumed you vaguely knew them etc
A man at the post office strolled past about 4 of us waiting the queue. Quite obvious it was the queue as when you go through the doors there are the counters on the left side and people queuing to the right. He stood next to the lady and her son at the first window so I assumed he was with them.
They finished and walked off and he just went to the window Shock CFer!
I was about to say something then another cashier was free so I didn't get chance. and she was the nicest one who saved me money on my parcels

On holiday recently queuing for a very well known historical attraction. Fairly long queue starting to form about half an hour before the place due to open.
Guy with flag in front of us on his own. Five mins before place opens about 30 tourists arrive obviously all part of his tour group thinking they'll push in front of us. I thought, I'm not having the this and told the tour guide that I thought this was unfair and that it would be courteous to let us go in front. (Only DH and me). Think he knew he was taking the p*ss as he let us ahead with an embarrassed smile!
I hate queue jumpers and will always speak up!

SpareChangeDownTheSofa · 10/08/2017 07:45

I'm that member of staff who tells every Q jumper to get to the back Grin

A lot of people send their kids up for desserts so they just walk right past the till and they think they'll get served faster because they're kids. I always tell them there's a Q and to wait at the back (nicely).

When I look up at the parents who just sent them to push in I always get the dirtiest looks Grin

I'm still cringing that we were CF at checkin at Heraklion airport last week. There were people everywhere and DH, who was pushing the trolley, was shouting his orders from the back put me in charge of finding the desk. As I didn't have my glasses I asked a staff member who checked our airline and pointed me to a completely empty, but manned desk. We walked to the front marvelling at the luck of it and by the time we got there there were a dozen people behind us. At that point I realised they'd opened a new desk and we'd strolled past the 50 or so patiently waiting travellers who all got on their justified high horse. But as we couldn't now reasonably get back because of the newly formed queue we proceeded. I was cringing and I'm really sorry.

Queue jumpers are one of my pet hates.
The worst one was in Disneyland Paris. Children waiting patiently for a signature when a family comes from no where and pushes in 2 or 3 ahead of me. I say "excuse me, the back of the queue is that way" and I get a gob full in return, telling me that everyone does it.
Oh, that makes it okay then!
She refused to budge until a cast member saw what was going on and told her to do one. CFer indeed.

wordy17 · 10/08/2017 08:25

I can't stand queue jumpers, either. I think they seek out their targets carefully. I had it happen to me a few times recently when I was waiting in line at the bank (which has decided to do away with counters and just has self-serve and a few employees standing there to help you but that gripe is for a different thread and probably already been covered on here)

Blatant pushing in after I had been waiting patiently as as someone else has said, the employee just let them do it to me.

I emailed the bank and complained. Next time, a bloke tried to push in and the employee said 'please wait your turn', so at least the bank told its workers not to let it happen.

I hate queue jumpers. After years living in Asia and the extremely rampant QJ-ing that goes on there, I am rather ruthless with them. Often I employ a sharp elbow for those trying to sneak past me or use my own bulk plus bag as a blocking mechanism. Its quite enjoyable watching them get foiled. One of the more outrageous ones, I saw recently in Asia was when I was approaching a ticket desk. The area to queue had railings on either side. As I approached the entrance of the queuing place, a lady ran in front of me. OK. But while she was distracted by beating me, a man climbed under the railings and ran in front of her. Instant Karma!

For those that speak English, I will tell them that I am in front of them. If that doesn't work, I will start my business with the cashier around them.

babsjonhson · 10/08/2017 08:38

I HATE queue jumpers they never get in front of me!

The worst is one who say "I'm in a rush" and try to go in front to pay for a coffee or a sandwich etc as if I care! I've had people shout at me that they're late (I live in a very busy place with lots of commuters) I usually answer "what makes me you think I give a shit if you're late?" Or "get up earlier tomorrow"

NoWordForFluffy · 10/08/2017 08:41

A woman did this to me the other day while I was queuing in the hottest shop on the planet, so keen to just pay and escape.

She brazenly walked past me and stood in front of me, so then became the front of the queue.

I was too hot and tired to say anything. If I'd felt more feisty, I'd have told her to get behind me!

Namechangetempissue · 10/08/2017 08:47

Disney Paris is the worst for CF line jumpers. Rides, buses, shops...just a constant battle to keep a space. Mostly rude adults too, not little kids! Lots prepared to elbow and shove a 6 year old out of the way to get on a hotel bus Hmm

Here is a tip for those of you meeting CF Qers if you are fortunate to find yourself in a ski chair queue. Those pointy sticks ski poles do have a use after all : to release CFQers skis off their boots from behind them, who then have to stop and sort out their skis.
Worked a treat for me many a time and I would just go on my way onto the lift, leaving CFQer stranded whilst others just followed me through. Very satisfying.

Alittlepotofrosie · 10/08/2017 09:07

I always challenge queue jumpers where i see them too. I like the tip about skis.
