Use the stairs!

So super busy shopping centre one of the lifts were broken. It amazed me how many people that could use the escalator or the stairs decided to use the lift.
There was prams and wheelchairs waiting and yet people still filled the lift. One girl with her BF said we should take the stairs his answer was I'm not fucking walking. When we finally got on there was me with a pram and 5 other people. Next stop there was a wheelchair waiting to get on if the woman moved the wheelchair could have gotten on but she just stood there staring so I asked her to move over so he could get in, que the filthy looks! AIBU to think you use a brain cell and use the stairs.

Omg yes I hate this!!! On my local tescos the lifts always take ages and the amount of people that don't need to get in them drives me mad! The joke is you actually have to pass the escalators to get to the lift! Yet people still do it. One woman got fed up of waiting so long she huffed and walked away to the escalators! I'm sure lots of people will come now to say people have phobias of escalators! Seriously that many people can't have a phobia of them

You have absolutely no idea who can use the stairs.

I don't look disabled - no wheelchair, no mobility aids - but I can't use the stairs.

Get some empathy and mind your own business.

Louiselouie0890 · 07/08/2017 22:16

Goes without saying there's people with disabilities you can't see, I knew that one would pop up.

My mother looks fit and healthy and sometimes uses the stairs, however she has a blue badge and short flight of stairs some days leaves her unable to do much of anything but rest. She has heart problems.
Don't judge, you never can tell.

MrTrebus · 07/08/2017 22:19

I don't get this, i would never choose a lift over an escalator! I love my new DD but I miss being able to get on the escalator, using lifts now is so boring I hate waiting for them with the pram! All these people saying about invisible disabilities like heart problems etc but surely those people can still use an escalator instead of a lift?

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 07/08/2017 22:19

Louiselouie0890 Oh really? Then why did you say It amazed me how many people that could use the escalator or the stairs decided to use the lift.? You clearly think you can tell who's able to use the stairs and who isn't.

nocoolnamesleft · 07/08/2017 22:21

I'd love to be able to reliably use the stairs.

Louiselouie0890 · 07/08/2017 22:24

Yes from the comment that he couldn't be arsed walking and the comments in the lift from other people of how they wished they took the stairs because the lift was taking ages because so many people were pressing the button on whatever level they were waiting to get on so the lift barely made it to any of the higher floors. So safe to say they could have gotten the stairs or the escalator.

I agree OP. Obviously there are exceptions but MOST can use the stairs, and whilst I'll use it if it's more than 4 or 5 flights, if I'm somewhere like a shopping centre it's often quicker to just WALK than wait around for one to come.
