suit for a wedding

My ex is getting married at Xmas. He's asked me to buy (as in take DD to choose the dress, not just pay for) a special dress for DD to wear at his wedding. How do I politely decline? Fuck off and buy it yourself is my first and only thought

Thread title - meant dress not suit, I'm buying a suit for my DP at the moment and obviously have it on the brain!

I think he should pay for it but i imagine she might prefer you to go choose it with her? How old is she?

Bobbiepin · 07/08/2017 20:55

Don't be polite! What a dick! Tell him if he wants a special dress for her then he can buy it!

She's 14.

Of course you shouldn't have to - but don't you want to take your daughter shopping for a nice dress?

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 07/08/2017 21:00

Can't she do it herself? I'd have been delighted to at that age.

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 07/08/2017 21:00

What does the 14yo want?

blueskyinmarch · 07/08/2017 21:02

At 14 she will be able to tell you if she would like you to help pick something out or have her dad help her. Or she could take the money and go with her friends and buy something totally inappropriate!

She couldn't care less, she would be happy in jeans and a t-shirt.

napmeistergeneral · 07/08/2017 21:19

He should pay for it, of course. Why on earth should you?
