Take baby to nail salon?

My baby sitter has fallen through and I have a nail appointment at 11. I'm going out tonight so I would like to have my nails done for that. On the other hand obviously it's very rude of me. She will probably sleep the entire time. It's still a £24 charge if I fail to make the appointment as I didn't give them 24 hours notice. WWYD?

Ring them and ask?

MazDazzle · 05/08/2017 09:26

Message and ask.

This happened to me recently, I messaged and explained what happened. They were happy for me to bring my baby along. He was quite happy in his pram.

My place loves babies, you'll often see one of the staff who are less busy walking round with a baby while mum gets her nails done. It's very relaxed, one of the reasons I like it so much there!

MumsOnCrack · 05/08/2017 09:27

I've done this - just ask them to do one hand at a time so you have one free!

Justwaitingforaline · 05/08/2017 09:28

It would depend what kind of nail salon and how you're having them done, IMO. The one I go to smells very strongly of chemicals ( when I have acrylic nails) and I wouldn't want to take my child there.

Mulberry72 · 05/08/2017 09:28

Definitely phone or message to check, the salon I use discourages it where possible.

luckylucky24 · 05/08/2017 09:29

I wouldn't want to because of the fumes. They give me a headache so mustn't be nice for a baby. But seems as you will be charged either way I would go just this once.

Sugarformyhoney · 05/08/2017 09:32

God I wouldn't those places stink!

^^ that's what my place is like - it's lovely (though have stopped getting nails done as tantrumming toddlers aren't so cute..)
But it was lovely, if DS woke up whilst my polish was drying someone would swoop him out and give him a cuddle and a fuss.

Steeley113 · 05/08/2017 09:42

I take mine if I can't get a sitter. I give them snacks and a drink in the pram and hope for the best.

ememem84 · 05/08/2017 09:47

I couldn't physically take mine. As it's in an old building up 3flights of stairs. Not sure where I'd leave the pram.... unless I carried him in a carrier thingy.

He's due to arrive in September/October so we'll see how that works out.

I did mention it to my lady the other day though and she said absolutely to bring him in. Her mum who works with her is a baby fiend so would snuggle him.

Skylark678 · 05/08/2017 09:48

My DD is 15 months old and has always come with me to get nails done every 3 weeks as well as other monthly beauty appointments.

As long as well behaved I can't see it being an issue

Mychildcouldnotbreaatfeed · 05/08/2017 09:48

You need to ring and ask. Their insurance might not cover them.

Dawnedlightly · 05/08/2017 09:51

It's practically unheard of to not have a baby with you. Unless you're having a weave when you need to have several toddlers.
Costs a lot less than £24 though!

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 05/08/2017 09:51

I wouldn't even analyse this I'd just take the baby!

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 05/08/2017 10:00

Round here (East London) every nail salon, hair salon and barber shop has a swarm of children, toddlers and babies waiting for their mum or older brothers to get done. None of these businesses would get any trade if they didn't accommodate this.

aaaaargghhhhelpme · 05/08/2017 10:03

I'd ring and ask before you turn up. At least they'd appreciate the forewarning. Maybe they can put you in a corner or something to give you more space

steppedonlego · 05/08/2017 10:21

I take my three year old if I'm going. It it's quiet they paint her nails too and she loves it.
