To hate my period

bigmouthstrikesagain · 05/08/2017 08:22

I started my period today, it is also my son's 13th birthday and my anniversary and we are going cycling in an hour then entertaining in laws for cake etc. Later.

I get hideous heavy and painful periods take very strong pain killers and feel sweaty and shit.

I know I am supposed to be She-Ra about it, hear me roar and go roller skating on the beach, but honestly, get to fuck. I started my period on my birthday a couple of months ago another day when I was very busy and it is a bugger and I am complaining cos I can and that is all.

I feel your pain. It is our first wedding anniversary tomorrow and my period started yesterday, several days early. In lots of pain and also really grumpy that we won't be able to have anniversary sex Blush. Periods are shit aren't they? Flowers

Macsmurray · 05/08/2017 08:31

Roller blading on the beach? Is that even possible? misses point

bingobunny · 05/08/2017 08:32

Can't you get the mirena ?

JacquesHammer · 05/08/2017 08:35

I hear you OP. It's an absolute pain.

Hope your day isn't too affected

youarenotkiddingme · 05/08/2017 08:42

Mine started today as well.

I also hate it. The past few days my stomachs been so rock solidly swollen I've looked about 6 months pregnant. I've craved comfort food but so bloated I've barely eaten.
I get constipated and then want to poo on and off all day the first day and it's nasty old stuff and often makes me sore.

Forget this she ra tosh. I've always maintained the project manager of those adverts is male!

I totally feel for you. The only reason I'm pretending not to mind I have my period this month is that it's also my ds 13th in a few weeks and we are going to a water park so I know I'm lucky it's now and not then.

Have you talked to your GP about having heavy periods? They should be able to help. Weirdly my periods as fine I just get cramps the days before:-(

Questioningeverything · 05/08/2017 08:47

Right there with you. Min started yesterday, I barely slept last night cause I was in so much pain and the sweats... argh. Won't be mowing the feckin lawn today like I'd planned either, no way I'll be able to in this much pain.
Hope it gets better op, periods are a curse.

Groovee · 05/08/2017 08:51

I've recently had an endometrial ablation due to my daily heavy bleeding. It's a relief to not bleed daily anymore. The last 2 years has been hard.

If you are struggling please see your GP as there are things you can try to lighten periods. They didn't work for me as I had an abnormal womb lining.

OublietteBravo · 05/08/2017 08:54

Yep. Today is gushy period day. My cycle seems to have shortened from 29 to 28 days, so now I always have the really heavy days at the weekend when I want to be out and about. It's a real PITA.

caffeinestream · 05/08/2017 08:54

The GP should help - try ibuprofen before you're due on for a couple of days before on, and traxenamic acid (sp?) while you're bleeding. It should help lighten your flow.

manglethedangle · 05/08/2017 08:57

I hate mine too, so much so I've only had 2 in 5 years! And they were out of necessity! If you aren't TTC then get rid. Cerezette, cerelle or Morena should do it.

JungleInTheRumble · 05/08/2017 09:01

I've got a mirena and not had one since 2011. For me the mirena is brilliant - it's not for everyone though.

Period's are the worst and the only thing I'm not looking forward to about ttc in the future is having periods again.

FrankieStein · 05/08/2017 09:03

My periods are terrible. Heavy, very heavy with all consuming cramps and lasted almost a week. (during which time I was the female hulk and scary to be around)
Depo injection was a godsend. Now no more period nightmares

candlefloozy · 05/08/2017 09:04

I used to hate getting periods - got the mirena now. But I remember not sleeping for a few days leading up to it. Being boiling hot in bed. Back and stomach ache. Foul mood. Spots. Urgh. It really is horrible. I do feel for you. I never felt she ra about it. I used to want to stay in bed for a week and do nothing!

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 05/08/2017 09:05

YANBU. This "love your period" nonsense must have been invented by a man. A big factor in my breastfeeding DS is that my periods stay away for a good while. Mine are very heavy and painful, I have to double up on tampons and pads and change then every 2 hours or so to avoid leakage. Seen endless GPs who say it's normal Hmm

AliTheMinx · 05/08/2017 09:12

Big hugs, OP! Totally agree. Periods are vile. Mine are so heavy and I can't use tampons. My period came late last month and ruined the first few days of my holiday. It's no fun bleeding in 32 degree heat and not being able to go in the pool or swim. I also feel awful, so really feel your pain. Flowers

EarlGreyT · 05/08/2017 09:26

I've always hated mine. The fact that I'm infertile makes me hate them even more because there's no bloody (pardon the pun) point to them. They're not even a sign that my body is doing what it's meant to do - it isn't, they're just a cruel reminder each month that I can't get pregnant.

I agree that the "love your period" nonsense was invented by a man. As are most sanitary product adverts. Rollerblading in white skinny jeans during your period because their pads are so good, just fuck off.

The contraceptive pill was also invented by a man. That's why you take it for 3 weeks and then have a week off with a withdrawal bleed because some idiot of a man decided that women would like to have periods. The original idea was to not have periods with it, but then some fool thought better of that idea.

justilou1 · 05/08/2017 09:29

Nope. DNBU. Happiest day of my life was the one when my uterus was put in the bin where it belonged. HATED every period I ever had.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 05/08/2017 15:39

Thank you folks for support. Cheers.

Well I found the day so far easier than I thought it would be. Managed a bike ride ok, more standy up pedalling than normal but I was on gear eleventy-million to avoid overtaking dd2 who is still learning so that wasn't too bad and great for the calves. Nice lunch out, back home to my ds birthday cake and to find that dh had ordered my favourite bourbon for an anniversary present (thank you same day amazon! Grin) 10 yo Eagle Rare. So i am having a medicinal tot of that.

Will send dh out for supplies and no. 1 son wants Dominoes for dinner so no more cooking planned... Though I don't want pizza.

Anyway I intend to veg as much as possible.

I have heavy periods, but they have got worse recently and seem closer together so docs might be necessary. I am clenching at thought of coils or pills, not ttc but dh has had snip so I enjoy not having to ingest hormones etc. Am phobic even about using tampons though I am getting better about that. Post Birth I found the thought of using tampons quite terrifying, not sure why, though perhaps it is the thought of losing them up there Blush.

Anyway thank you all I feel understood which is all you want sometimesFlowers
