DW's nephew has leukaemia

Very shocked and upset. A really charming young man of 29, never going to set the Thames on fire but never going to do any harm to anyone either.

And now this.

One of his sisters is eight months pg with her second (and the first, three this month, adores her uncle and vice versa). The other, who is a match for bone marrow if it comes to that, lives in the USA and has just weaned her second. A lovely and close family.

It's just bloody awful.

My thoughts are with your family. How terrible for you all.

I fucking hate cancer.wishing strength to your nephew and family and hoping for a good outcome for them.

Wishing you all the best. My DH has recently had a stem cell transplant and is doing well. Nil desperandum.

We had similar news 16 years ago with a diagnosis of AML. They are still with us. It's grim, horrible news, but there is hope.

Thanks all. I am the only relation of his who has gone through it, and that was 24 years ago and I am still here, and he knows that.
