To feel dumped upon at work...

I'm sick of being the one everyone goes to at work..... sometimes it is because I know the answer, even though the area is not my responsibility, sometimes it is because they know I will help, sometimes because they or others just can't be arsed and I help because I am not a lazy slophead or because someone has to do something. BUT I am sick of it. All week it has been doing constant other bits and none of my own work. I feel like showing two fingers up to my colleagues. If I wasn't in an open plan office I would probably say something loudly. Not sure what that means, I'm just whinging now. And it is annoying because the lazy schleps get away with it.

Have you spoken to your manager about this? This is a key developent area for you.

What happens when you say no? Have you ever said no? I'm sure of your work load isn't done it's you who ill get it in the neck so why are you prioritising other tasks?

Delegation from your manager happens in every role but do you tell your manager if it's reasonably something you can't fit in? Pushing back when you need to is a key skill

And your colleagues who come to you... tell them "I'm sorry I have xyz on my self but once I've completed xyz task ill pop over and see if you still need help" and if you don't get round to it oh well.

Teamwork is great but it's not teamwork if your doing it all yourself is it!
