I qualified as a teacher 14 years ago (Shock) and was working in senior management.

The school I was working in merged with another school and I got another job. However the school was awful. I left. Since then I cannot get another job. It's embarrassing as all I hear is the teacher shortage. But if I go for an SLT/middle management post I don't get it as I'm not currently in that role. If I go for a bog standards class teacher role I don't get it as it goes to an NQT.

I feel shit about it.

I know there are a lot of teachers here. I'm wondering now about other careers.

Could you set up your own business as a private tutor?

No idea how the teaching world works though, just didn't want to read and run

Flowers good luck

Presuming u are on UPS, can you take a class teacher role and a pay cut down to MPS? Might help.

Also are you doing supply to get your name out there? Heads are more likely to appoint you if they know you are good.

Supply is ruining my confidence.

I know technically pay portability has been abolished but no one seems to have told the HTs round here!

I'm in exactly the same position. I have applied for a few positions only for them to go to NQT's or internal candidates!

Could you put in your letter of application about a pay cut to make it obvious??

What about teacher friends who can recommend you for a post? That's always happening down where I am.

It is so frustrating though! Budget cuts means NQTs are the easy option.
