To ask a stupid question about burglar alarms

My property has a really sophisticated alarm system which was already installed when I bought the flat. I never use it and want to get rid because it keeps giving warning beeps about low batteries which is annoying but if I just turn off the power and remove batteries won't the alarm just sound as it's been tampered with? Anyone know thanks for reading this boring subject. Posting here for traffic.

I think that might happen. Does it have the name of the company on it that installed it. If so, you could give them a ring and see if they can disable it.

yes I think you'll have to get it deactivated - but what kind is it? If it's wireless then you might be okay. If it's been wired in electrically then it's going to be a hassle I'm afraid.

I do know the company that installed it but I expect they will charge a fortune to deactivate it.
