DH is in a huff because I painted DS toenails

I was painting dd(3) finger nails, and ds(7) came in the room and asked if he could have his toe nails done, green like a zombie! FIne by me!

Dh told him he couldn't have them done, as did mil who was also sitting next to me.
I asked why and they couldn't give a valid reason, besides he's a boy.

So I painted them. Dd is happy, dh is happy. Dh is in a huff!

Is he BU or am I? Is it wrong for a boy to have his toe nails painted?

Yabu, don't you know it will cause his penis to shrivel and fall off?

CaoNiMartacus · 31/07/2017 21:21

OH NO! Remove it immediately or he'll CATCH THE GAY.

Tell him not to be such a berk.

WhamBarsArentAsFizzyAsTheyWere · 31/07/2017 21:21

Totally wrong. Ds will be emotionally scarred forever now Sad

Bigoldsupermoon · 31/07/2017 21:21

YANBU. Your DH is being a tool.

Ilovecoleslaw · 31/07/2017 21:22

Yanbu, what a ridiculous excuse

ThoseCowsAreFarAway · 31/07/2017 21:22

He is being ridiculous. I have boys and girls and all love having their nails painted. It's very common.

SpiritedLondon · 31/07/2017 21:22

Jesus your DH needs to get a grip. Where do they get this shit from? ( his mother apparently) YANBU.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 31/07/2017 21:22

Of course he's BU! Ignore them! I personally think 3 is a bit young to have nails painted. But that's just me! I'm probably BU too! Wink

FuckYouDailyMail · 31/07/2017 21:24

You have green nail varnish cool!

And YANBU

Shoxfordian · 31/07/2017 21:24

He's obviously unreasonable

Don't stifle your child's creativity

BarbaraofSeville · 31/07/2017 21:25

Like you really think anyone on here is going to say YABU for putting nail polish on your DS.

MrsPnut · 31/07/2017 21:26

My OH lets the kids paint his toenails, once he had red glitter nails and we visited his parents.
His dad did a double take at his bare feet at breakfast but he wore sandals and rocked them for ages.

WhatWouldGenghisDo · 31/07/2017 21:26

My DS had an accident with glitter glue earlier & he looked amazing in a ziggy stardust way. I'd totally paint his toenails if I could be bothered to do my own

NevermindtheBollocks · 31/07/2017 21:26

I actually sarky commented under my breath to dh that it's not like he's going to catch the gay! (Not that I'd be too fussed if he did turn out to be gay)

Glad to know it's not me being U. I really can't see the issue! He's happy, he's harming no one!

Mil actually gave the excuse that it'll weigh him downso he wouln't be able to ride his bike! I know she was joking and just saying it to change his mind but I replied that we must take dd off then too as she won't be able to ride hers either!

I'm calling social services.

Operator : please state the nature of the social emergency

Me: A child's nails have been painted green!

Operator : is this child a boy or a girl?

Me: A boy...

WHOOOOOOP WHOOOOOOP WHOOOOOOP WHOOOOOOP WHOOOOOOP WHOOOOOOP WHOOOOOOP WHOOOOOOP WHOOOOOOP AND OTHER KLAXON NOISES

Operator : the SWAT team has been scrambled! Keep an eye out for the helicopter. They'll drop ropes and take the poor little lamb to safety.

Me: phew! Thank you so much

Operator : it's situations like this that are the reason I became a social worker. That poor boy.

Me: you deserve a raise!

ButchyRestingFace · 31/07/2017 21:28

You've gayed him.

To paraphrase W C Fields, make sure he remembers to thank you!

Whathaveilost · 31/07/2017 21:28

DS nearly 18 came away from his girlfriend's with his nails painted. She needs the practice for her course. He wasn't bothered, neither was I or DH.

BlurryFace · 31/07/2017 21:29

As a teenager I gave my dad a full makeover including nails while he snoozed on the couch (cue much swearing at 6am when he was hunting for make up and nail polish remover before going to work). A month later he said to me "bloody hell Blurry, this nail polish is good stuff, I've still got gold bits on my nails even though I've been swimming!". He'd not bothered removing it on his toes as no one would see it at work and he's quite a stuffy man's man in many ways.

NevermindtheBollocks · 31/07/2017 21:29

mrspnut one thing that confuses me is that pre dc he happily let my little step sister paint his nails!

Ha. One of my sons used to love having his toenails painted. His favourite was sparkly blue (the more glittery, the better).

Of course it's fine!

Finaguls · 31/07/2017 21:31

My 5 year old son is walking round in his Spiderman sandals and green painted toenails at the moment. Obviously on trend.

NevermindtheBollocks · 31/07/2017 21:31

It's really pissed me off that they think it's okay for dd and not for ds.

NevermindtheBollocks · 31/07/2017 21:34

Green is a cool colour!

I'm not a fan of having mine done, I'm not the best at all the make up stuff and generally wear tshirt, jeans and no make up. My dd is a shock to the system and I'm not really sure what is or isn't acceptable for a 3yr old to be dressing up in.
I certainly don't allow skimpy dresses/shorts or dress up heels. But I'd have thought nail varnish was okay.
