My contract is up in a few weeks and I am being besieged with calls from companies offering me "special deals" and "upgrades". It is driving me nuts, they call up at 8pm at night, and during the day seem to have a 6th sense for when DS is napping.
Each time one calls, I say "DO NOT call this number again" but it doesn't seem to help. The calls come up either with a mobile number that I don't know (I tend to ignore those, and they ring back up to 4 times) or as "Withheld" - unfortunately both my DH and my mum's office numbers come up like this.
I called Orange to see if they could help (yeah right) and of course it was nothing to do with them.
I said "Well, you must have given them my details".
"Oh no no no madam, that's against the Data Protection Act".
"So these companies just happen to guess that I have an Orange contract coming up for renewal?"
"Oh there's a big database madam, they know that information about every phone provider"
Oh that's OK then!!!
We're opted out of cold calls on the land line - surely there must be a way of doing the same on the mobile?
The Orange woman said "Well madam, if you sign up for a new contract now, you'll stop getting the calls".
Yep, I'm signing up - not with you though love!
