To get excited.... period or implantation bleed?

Hi,

I have just posted on the conception board but I'm posting here for traffic (I'm quite new so sorry if that's not the right thing to do )
background:
29, healthy, regular exerciser, had lost a little weight, bmi now 18.5, stopped my pill in Jan but used the pulling out technique (I know I know confused), and had regulR 28 day cycles.

Anyway we decided in June we would start trying for baby number one as soon as I had my next period...... we waited and waited but nothing!! So decided to carry on with normal sex eithout protection.I have been to the GP who did blood tests - all normal!

So Friday I get some cramping like period pains at work, horribly bloated Thurs Friday and sat, achy boobs fir a few days. Last night I had the tiniest bit if brown discharge in my knickers and this morning a smear on the tissue.
We have had unprotected sex roughly once a week for the last 4 weeks, last on Sunday, and i did a test yesterday which was negative.

AIBU to think I could be pregnant and it just not showing yet and it be an implantation bleed or is it just the beginning of my period?

A false negative is a possibility. Did you test first thing in the morning?

Yeah very first thing, if it's only just embedding in my womb maybe it Won't show yet?! Or am I being over hopeful?

try not to get over excited/ Stressing about whether or not you are pg makes you very miserable believe me. just enjoy a normal sex life and let nature take its course in its own time because in most cases it does.

I'd wait a week and if your period hasn't started test again. It's tough to wait, sorry. Hopefully it's good news.

If not, I'd try having sex than once a week.

When is your period due? Some tests can show positive up to 4 days before you're due on but the longer you leave it the more hormone is in your system and the better the test result will be.

I did a test 2 days after my period was due and even then the lines were relatively faint.

Oh I'm not stressed, far from it... I'm excited either way, if I'm pregnant that's great and given I haven't had a period for 3 months even if it's a period I will be happy easily pleased!!
Steff13 - I know we need to up our game, we decided when we properly started trying we would crack on but for the time being we were just doing it as we usually would but with no protection, but I guess that's a whole new thread about how often people are at it!
