I'll keep it short. I've lost 30lbs and it has become noticeable now.

I've been told that I'm doing it completely wrong and I should get on slimming world.

This person lost 3lbs in one week (after stopping and starting sw and gaining) and has t shut up about it.

I'm happy for her. Any loss is good but I'm sick of her obsession with my diet that clearly works well for me.

Who is this person?

Avoid them.

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 29/07/2017 13:18

Not another SW bashing thread?

AdoraBell · 29/07/2017 13:19

Just smile and nod. What you are doing is clearly working for you, so keep doing it your way. Well done on your weightless.

Arealhumanbeing · 29/07/2017 13:19

Well done!

Do it your way and let her enjoy her endless Muller lights and entire packs of ham.

NicolasFlamel · 29/07/2017 13:26

Ignore it and let her crack on. She'll likely have given up in a few weeks and be banging on about "getting back on it" at some point.

FrogFairy · 29/07/2017 13:28

Boots, please would you be willing to share what is working for you?

I have a shitload of weight to lose, I really think lower carb is the way to go but always interested in what everyone else is doing.

LaArdilla · 29/07/2017 13:30

Slimming World's for people who want to lose a couple of pounds with low-fat yoghurts, annoy their friends with grim food photography, then put it back on again repeatedly so as to keep lining the SW coffers (they wouldn't be much of a business if everyone became thin and knowledgeable about healthy meals and never came back).

Hopefully you can shut her down soon. "Talking about diets is boring."

BootsWithDresses · 29/07/2017 14:01

FrogFairy the best thing I did was buy a Fitbit. I push myself each day to do more steps. I'm a lot more active now. I know from the Fitbit what calories I've burnt.

I would measure my food and know the calorie intake. I don't have to do that now because I just know.

It really is as easy as burning more than you consume. That's why I allow myself to sometimes have that chocolate bar.

Thank you Boots. I am so unfit it is embarrassing. I really need to just get out and start walking and build it up from rock bottom.

AccrualIntentions · 29/07/2017 21:29

I avoid talking diets with people as much as I can! I lost my first 2 stone on slimming world, and it really worked for me. I lost a further stone and a half tracking my food intake with my fitness pal and that also really worked for me. I'm incredibly skeptical of anyone who insists whatever plan they're on is amazing or the only thing worth doing.

MissBax · 29/07/2017 21:30

Ahh well done 👏 hilarious that she thinks she can tell you what works when she's lost 3lbs and you've lost 30!! Eeejit

Mysteriouscurle · 29/07/2017 21:51

Id probably be tempted to say "I must be doing something right since I've lost 30 lbs" and if they insist you're doing it wrong, I'd enquire how they were getting onGrin

vikingprincess81 · 29/07/2017 21:51

Frog I was you a few years back when I was recovering from a big operation - lost all my confidence and fitness. Yes yes yes to the walking and the Fitbit - whack on your trainers and just walk - you'll feel better and your fitness will improve so fast. Don't just do easy walks - make yourself walk up slopes (easy ones to start with) on sand (if there's a beach nearby) or anywhere else you can. You can do it! Grin

FrogFairy · 29/07/2017 22:28

Thanks for the boost Viking.

MsHarry · 29/07/2017 22:29

Yes definitely walk! I got a dog 12 months ago and walk her every day, rain or shine for 45 mins to an hour, fairly briskly over fields etc. Didn't notice weight loss as I was still eating what I wanted.Went running the other day and did 5k(first in years) in under 30 mins, 10 years ago I'd do it in 33 when I was a jogger! All that has changed (apart from being 10 years older)is the daily walking.

MsMommie · 29/07/2017 22:30

Tell her to off.

Jessiecat27 · 30/07/2017 01:14

I hate people like that, different things work for different people! I used my fitness pal, cut out most of the crap food and started cooking healthy meals with plenty of excersize but I know that doesn't work for everyone! Keep it up if it's working for you and you're happy and just ignore them!

MauiBrideWithLemonDrizzle · 30/07/2017 01:20

SW does not work for everyone. I couldn't do it as way too carby for me an dmy body does not respond well to carbs. One size (no pun intended) does not fit all where diets are concerned.

RamblinRosie · 30/07/2017 01:53

DH is doing 5 2, he's losing a kilo a month. On his "fast" days he does a slice of toast with marmalade, a bowl of soup, a glass of wine and a low cal supper (mushroom stroganoff , grilled salmon etc).

Being more conscious, he's cut his regular sweeties and is careful about other stuff , but doesn't stop him eating the odd slice of cake! He doesn't feel restricted.

Slow works and is sustainable.
