Tea Grump

I do actually know I'm being unreasonable here.

First thing this morning hubby made me a cuppa (as he often does). Sorting out the kids I didn't get to touch it (as often happens) and then he suggested I go and get in the shower first.

I just got downstairs and he's gone upstairs to use the shower. I saw the tea on the side and just picked it up and downed it.

Turns out the original cup of tea had gone cold so he'd very kindly made me a fresh one (this has never happened before). I've totally burned my mouth and throat Sad

AIBU to be a bit grumpy with him?

Surely when you picked up the cup you could feel the heat if it was that hot?

And as you know you are being unreasonable

ethelfleda · 29/07/2017 08:52

YABU OP
But I hope your throat feels better Smile

SpartacusSaiman · 29/07/2017 08:52

So you are annoyed (at him) he made you a cup of tea, that you didnt drink and he made you a fresh one?

How did you not notice the cup was hot?

You know you are veing completely unreasonable. Also yabu for trying to drink cold tea Wink

Tbh i would (momentarily) be annoyed with him too. I realise i hate accepting i get hurt through not paying attention. So am trying to work on that. Grin

I actually can't feel temperatures properly on one arm/hand (a medical thing), so no I didn't feel it.

It's fine. I'm just grumpy. I do realise that he was trying to be nice (cold tea is grim - hence downing it rather than enjoying it slowly) and he wasn't to know I'd pick it up in the wrong hand and just down it.

And your DH sounds lovely. Please don't be mad with him - he is very thoughtful.

Crumbs1 · 29/07/2017 08:55

Totally reasonable. You should wait in bed playing on MN until he brings the tea upstairs. It's his responsibility to deliver tea at the correct temperature each morning. The scalding tea was entirely his failing.

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 29/07/2017 08:59

OP, you have married a monster!
I think you should demand he buys you one of those temperature sensitive colour change mugs so you can tell at a glance if your tea is tepid.

I would divorce him straight away, what a bastard...

ShatnersBassoon · 29/07/2017 09:01

Ask him to use McDonald's cups in future with 'CONTENTS IS HOT' warnings on them.

The poor bloke! He sounds thoughtful and kind. Your mistake of downing a scalding drink (I don't even know how you got past the first drop without instinct pulling it away) is not his fault.

VladmirsPoutine · 29/07/2017 09:02

Are you feeling generally miserable at the minute?

Lostinaseaofbubbles · 29/07/2017 09:05

Colour changing mug - that sounds good!

I am a bit grumpy at the moment, but the post was also a bit tongue in (slightly scalded) cheek.

He could of just not made you tea at all.. but then you'd probably also be grumpy with him for that.

MissBax · 29/07/2017 17:40

I'm glad you're saying this is tongue in cheek cos it's insanely unreasonable.
