I have a friend on facebook. I do feel a bit meh about some of her facebook posts. Things like feeling heartbroken. So you ring her in a panic to discover that it's because of the CG situation
Now I know that this is a sad situation but really a facebook post like that.
It is just attention seeking isn't it or am I heartless?

Yanbu but I think many will disagree

ChasingHighs · 28/07/2017 08:17

Hide her posts then. Job done.

NicolasFlamel · 28/07/2017 08:18

The problem is people feed into it so the drama queens do it more. I've hidden and unfriended a few of them because it's tiresome. They'd stop if nobody fussed over them.

MrsJayy · 28/07/2017 08:20

Yanbu however this is very emotive and Fb is the place to spew out your feelings hide her posts or don't react people can get carried away.

LoniceraJaponica · 28/07/2017 08:20

I hide posts all the time from "friends" who post things I couldn't give a toss about.

Luckily none of them are drama queens.

Nicpem1982 · 28/07/2017 08:21

Just unfollow and pop onto her profile periodically and like the odd post she'll never know

Sunnyjac · 28/07/2017 08:26

PovertyJetset · 28/07/2017 08:33

I have a friend who has decided to live every moment on Facebook and most of them are negative. I know she will be miffed I haven't commented but I HATE the dramatic woe is me stuff. It's so NEEDY and pathetic.

Ah that feels better!!

MrsJayy · 28/07/2017 08:37

Everybody uses facebook differently but it just boils down to attention seeking whatever you post, I don't mean that to sound negative but if we were not looking for an interaction we wouldn't use facebook. Some folk post cat videos others use it to show over dramatic upset it is how we react to them that matters the unfollow button is great

Twoweekcruise · 28/07/2017 08:40

Yanbu, I've come off Facebook because of stuff like this, there are too many like that imo. They'll put up a sad face and caption such as 'just can't take any more!' with endless people saying 'omg, what's up hun? I'll pm you!'. Thing is it's not just on social media, it's everywhere especially amongst the young, my friend's 20 year old is such a drama queen it's annoying and her mates are just as bad!!

MrsJayy · 28/07/2017 08:46

I had to take youngsters off my facebook relatives kids etc as they are so angsty my own kids use twittter which i dont use for their angst Dd is a drama student so an actual drama queen her twitter makes me want to slap her about the head Grin her Fb is fine though.

x2boys · 28/07/2017 08:52

Facebook is great in a.lot of ways I,m in touch with friends and relatives at the other side of the world through it , it's also good for it's group's my child was diagnosed with a rare chromosome disorder and through Facebook in the early days I got a lot of support from the wonderful charity UNIQUE and their Facebook group's I have also found a Facebook group for my son's particular chromosome disorder and there are people on it from all over the world but Facebook is also a platform for the needy attention seekers.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 28/07/2017 08:52

Entirely too much drama on FB.
And about FB too - my sister has just blocked me on FB as she has decided that I am not worthy any longer.
I'm finding it slightly amusing rather than anything else!
(She is a massive drama llama)

GeillisTheWitch · 28/07/2017 08:55

Is this your friend?

To hate this drama queen stuff.
WomblingThree · 28/07/2017 08:55

What did people like this do before Facebook?

Bumdishcloths · 28/07/2017 08:58

"U ok Hun? PM me"

I literally cannot abide attention seeking bollocks.

"Such an awful day" oh what's up? "Can't talk about it on here"

Social media is, surely, a fluffy platform for sharing memes and stupid videos and at a push wishing people happy birthday, posting inspirational quotes and news articles/justgiving pages when some bugger decides to run a marathon. Politics needs to fuck off, as does ethics, animal rights etc etc etc. Don't even get me started on CG.

Social media isn't something I can take seriously, especially while drama llamas are flailing all over it, and I find it thoroughly perplexing when people take it so seriously as to conduct their personal relationships and air their dirty laundry on it.

Sorry, bit ranty Confused

MaisyPops · 28/07/2017 08:59

wombling
I bet they were those people who walked around with a face on just asking you be asked 'what's wrong? You seem a little under the weather'.
Or chronic sighers.
Or the types who when anyone expresses concern says 'I'm fine' when that really means 'I'm not I'm not I'm not and you better be about to ask me again so then I can pretend that I'm reluctantly telling you something I've been dying to say'.

MrsJayy · 28/07/2017 09:00

womblingtree they took to tumlr Grin there is people who don't know life before the internet so writing your woes online is normal for them.

MrsJayy · 28/07/2017 09:01

You feel better after that bumdishcloths

thenightsky · 28/07/2017 09:01

I just tick 'like' but never comment. That confuses 'em. Grin

guiltybystander · 28/07/2017 09:03
