To ditch smartphone

My phone has just broken and I'm considering getting a 'dumb phone' - a normal one like we had in the 90s with no internet etc. I'd then take a proper camera out with me to photograph the kids and my simple phone for texting. I'm kind of sick of being tempted to look at it all the time and how complicated it is.

Am I nuts?

Nope.

Do it, then throw the old one away whilst yelling " FREEDOM"

no not nuts i have been tempted to do the same myself recently.

Ilovecoleslaw · 27/07/2017 22:15

I'm tempted too, but not sure how I'd cope with not reading mumsnet in my lunch break

I don't think I could be without things like Google Maps or, well, just Google. They're really handy.

Could you not just have a smartphone but not install the apps that are a problem for you e.g. Facebook/Whatsapp/whatever?

More and more people are doing this.

I don't have a smart phone and never have. I don't regret it at all (although my friends think it is hilarious).
