To think midnight is too late to use a JCB

Electricity north West are currently across the road digging with a JCB. Are there situations that warrant this or is this out of order? I wouldn't have thought you could carry out noisy work at this time. Buggers have woke me up.

I could imagine an instance where it would be necessary. For instance if a car crashed into a lamp post, leaving it live, and thus needing the power to the road turned off until it had been removed...

This will have been for an emergency situation they certainly wouldn't be doing it for routine work

I doubt they are doing the work at midnight for kicks and giggles. Probably emergency work that needed fixing ASAP.
