FIL and electric shaver

AIBU or is it grim to use an electric shaver in a carpeted bedroom . PIL stayed 3 days . I felt very intolerant. The shaver incident was one more niggle. My sister thinks that a shaver may collect the hair internally. I didn't challenge him on it as they were babysitting for us one night. Tell me that it is not unhygienic so that I can stop being irritated.

It's only hair. Not nice from a mess perspective but hoovering should be sanitary enough.

Yes I have a hoover but surely more considerate as a guest to shave over a sink and rinse it away?

Or use the Hoover themselves?

It collects in the shaver. my dad trims his beard over the towel rack!!!!!

other than that it's a non issue, nothing that running a hoover can't fix.

Also while I am ranting - why the fuck do older men expect to be waited on. Had a small children's party today. There was a buffet of food which the women and children helped themselves to. The men however sat watching sport in a different room and expected to have food brought to them which DM and MIL enabled.

When DF was unable to move around without assistance, he used electric razor ,whilst sitting in his armchair,daily. No hair mess at all- it's collected in the razor.

It's grim to have a carpeted bathroom. It's unacceptable.

Where did you expect him to shave? In the garden?

It is not a carpeted bathroom . It was in the guest bedroom.

Of course I can Hoover but I don't want to hoover bedrooms more than once a week . Guests should imo not make work for the host unnecessarily.
Anyway sounds like it is a non issue so I can forget about it!

To all saying bathroom shouldn't be carpeted - he's not doing it in the bathroom, he's doing it in the bedroom, as the OP clearly said.

OP - I think it would be more normal to do it in the bathroom so he's a bit odd, but I wouldn't think anything of it. It's just hair. Hair naturally falls on carpets anyway. Just hoover it up.

The carpet is in the bedroom, not the bathroom! But no OP, whilst not ideal, it will vacuum up easily.

Urgh my FIL does this too. Walking around the house including the kitchen! I'm so glad PP has said the hairs collect in the shaver-changed my perspective!!

But a good tiler would be able to sort that out for you. My mum has an awkwardly shaped shower room and a guy she found locally did wonders.

They use these amazing laser cutting saw thingy-ma-jigs.

Opps, obviously for tiles rather than vinyl but because my mum got her own tiles (really cheap on sale at B&Q) it worked out about the same if not cheaper.

I have a £10 travel shaver which drops hair on the floor. I also have a £200 shaver for home which keeps all the hair inside it until it's time to clean it. So it depends on what type of shaver he has.
