Universal credit and the rape clause

There are grave concerns regarding the introduction of this in Northern Ireland for specific reasons in that it's a crime in Northern Ireland not to report a crime.

Am I being unreasonable to suggest that this rape clause is ridiculous anyway and should be scrapped immediately.

In practice that would mean people who had been raped and have third child or more couldn't claim tax credits. So I suppose it depends if you feel that is a good thing or not.
