Aibu to think a 750g joint of lamb is plenty for 4 people? 2 adults, a child and a toddler.

I found dh defrosting 2x 750g joints of meat he said one wouldn't be near enough.

I asked him to please put on back because it's too much and will go to waste he now thinks we won't have enough.

Fwiw, he doesn't seem to be acknowledging that we usually get a 300-400g joint and that's just right.

missiondecision · 22/07/2017 21:54

Way to much. Imo. We are a family of 6 and only use 1.

That sounds far too much!

Rinkydinkypink · 22/07/2017 21:57

Is that with a bone in it? If not then that's alot of meat for the equivalent of 3 adult portions.

ginnystonic · 22/07/2017 21:59

The general rule when catering is: 225g of (raw weight) meat per adult (when meat is the main meal, served with a starch and vegetables)

I would 1/2 that amount for children.

So, 572g should feed your family fine Smile

ginnystonic · 22/07/2017 22:00

(Provided that is meat weight only and not bone)

DJBaggySmalls · 22/07/2017 22:01

Its 1lb 6oz. If its boneless, thats plenty for 4 people.
