To think this is odd for a 15 year old boy?

Lighthearted and just curious. I overheard my colleague talking about her son and how he insists on washing everyone's clothes.

Is this odd? Does everyone else's teenaged do the laundry for the whole house?

No not here. They wash their own sometimes (18 and 15). But really it sounds like he just loads the washing machine same as my two. Not really washing.
Unless he's standing over the sink doing handwashing?

VestalVirgin · 22/07/2017 20:54

It is not exactly normal, but as long as he doesn't ruin the clothes by doing it wrong, I'd just be happy that he does it!

(Okay, the insisting part is strange. Perhaps he has OCD?)

VestalVirgin · 22/07/2017 20:55

I thought loading the washing machine and then emptying it and hanging the laundry out to dry is how washing is done nowadays. Surely no one handwashes ordinary clothes?

BootsWithDresses · 22/07/2017 20:55

Yes she said he washes things wrong but he won't let anyone else do it

Sounds like she is raising a smashing ds and will be a popular mil in the future. . .

Sparklingbrook · 22/07/2017 20:56

In the washing machine though? How does he do that wrong? Presumably he goes to school so she could do it while he's out?

BootsWithDresses · 22/07/2017 20:56

I'm nlt talking about hand washing! I mean he's the only one allowed to use the washing machine.

*not

X post but while he is at school (or out) anyone can do the washing surely?

BootsWithDresses · 22/07/2017 20:57

Presumably he goes to school so she could do it while he's out?

She tends to work the same hours as me (8-4) so no.

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 22/07/2017 20:57

Does he take it to school with him?

WorraLiberty · 22/07/2017 20:59

X posted

She probably finds it amusing and the 'He's the only one allowed to use the washing machine'.

I wouldn't take her so literally.

Mehfruittea · 22/07/2017 21:05

I'd assume he was hiding something - wank stains or bed wetting?

Sparklingbrook · 22/07/2017 21:09

And he never leaves the house at the weekend? She could set a timer to turn the machine on while everyone's out.

But really, like Worra said it's possibly a tongue in cheek comment because he turned the machine on two days in a row or something. Grin

Another wanke stain voter here

FUNM · 22/07/2017 21:19

Does his load ever get darkened on? lol

FUNM · 22/07/2017 21:20

when it is on the line I mean ...

horsefeathers · 22/07/2017 21:38

I also vote wank stains (FOR PRESIDENT). Odd to do everyone's instead of just his own, though. Maybe he thinks that's less suspicious? That or he's sussed that it's a fairly low-effort chore compared to some, and he's clinging onto it for fear of being made to do dishes or scrub the bog.

tccat · 22/07/2017 21:52

I'm leaning more towards wank material rather than wank stains 😦
