Any gps around? Throwing up on the pill question

Just that. Got a stomach bug. Thrown up approx 3.5 hrs after taking the pill (more than once). Am on week 3- only got 3 more pills left after today.

I don't want to take another pill in case I'm sick again.

Pill leaflet (gederal) says you may not be protected if you're sick 3-4 hours after taking it. It also says one option is to stop taking the pack and go straight to pill free week. I assume this means I have 7 days off now (including today) and start a new pack next Saturday?

Anyone done this? Will it work(in terms of staying protected)? I've never heard of it as an option before....

I'm not a GP but was on the pill for years. I believe if you throw up the pill then you aren't protected for a week. I forgot to take one for two hours and now have a 17 month old!

Yes I know. I'm trying to work out if there's a way around it without taking another pill- i.e. Going straight to the pill free week..?

To be honest I would take your pills as normal (not taking an extra) and use another form of contraception for 7 days

Mmm could be an idea. But I'm at the end of the pack- wouldn't I need to go straight onto the next pack without a break?

Yes you could. Still no guarantee you're protected though. I would take tomorrow's pill as normal, finish the pack and then start a new one

Thanks. What a pain.

Hope you feel better soon!

Agree with Jacques; that is the 'safest solution'
If you have taken your last 7 pills correctly then your ovaries are switched off so to speak and you can potentially miss 7 pills i.e. Have a pill free week now ... let's say no pill today ( been sick) or tomorrow then either treat this as your pill free week and start new packet after7 day interval or you could not have a pill free interval and just start new packet straight away and miss this months days off .
