So, supposed to exchange today. We are 3 of 4 in a chain. We are ready to go with our onward purchase and have been for a while. It's been a painful chain with a number of last minute issues raised on the flat our buyers are selling. Lots of reassurances that all is being resolved, two missed deadlines (we are now a week away from completion). Last night we had confirmation that all was ready to exchange, there just wasn't enough time. They and their lawyers have now gone awol. No response to calls/ emails etc for the last 6 hours.
We have met our buyers all seemed fine, young couple very much like ourselves 5 years ago, but I am at a loss as to what to do now. Is there anything? I've tried calling them myself and our estate agent and solicitor are on them. If we do manage to exchange I am sitting here with fantasies about taking all the light bulbs...
