On a campsite, walking across the car park and saw a vw van with this symbol on (stock pic - didn't want to get caught being a van photo pervert)

I was completely shocked as it erm... looks a bit nazi-ish to me?

I showed dh who is a mechanic and very into cars, who said it's just the German coat of arms, nothing off about it.

Am I being really naive and over sensitive?

Your DH is right - it looks like the German coat of arms stuck on top of the VW sign. Can't see anything deliberately Nazi-ish about it (although I think the nazis did make use of the eagle as a symbol).

It's the German coat of arms (vw is german) yes the nazis had it but it's been around for years. We can't expect German companies and Germany to stop using the something they had before and after the period of nazi control

Even the Nazi symbol goes back to the days before the Nazis - the Nazis hijacked the symbol
