A friend asked me to buy something for her a few weeks ago and she would pay me back the money. I picked it up. Now she has bought me some I end (that I didn't ask for) and said these are in payment for the item I bough her. AIBU to be upset!

Is it of the same value? What has she bought you?

It would piss me off too. Can you return the item?

SheSaidHeSaid · 14/07/2017 12:58

Yes, I'd be pissed off too. You haven't asked for the other items. That's really odd.

Are you sure she actually bought the items?

ijustwannadance · 14/07/2017 12:59

Did she actually buy you something or just palm something she already had off instead, like an unwanted gift?

Give it back and tell her you want your money not an item you didn't want or ask for.

VladmirsPoutine · 14/07/2017 12:59

How odd. Is it a bit like she asked you to buy her a microwave and in return has bought you a cutlery set?

TheSlowLoris · 14/07/2017 13:00

Yanbu, what have you said to her?

Whichwayyisup · 14/07/2017 13:02

I doubt she bought it OP.

Def not bu

Hubbabubbababy123 · 14/07/2017 13:04

She bought those items! Not what I want nor what I need. Became snippy when I asked for the cash and discussed all items she has ever bought for me! It was very awkward!

SheSaidHeSaid · 14/07/2017 13:07

It's effectively taking your cash, popping to the shops and buying useless stuff you don't want. You just wouldn't do that.

5foot5 · 14/07/2017 13:26

YANBU to be upset.
YABU to start a thread with just "AIBU" as the thread title. Give us some clue what it contains!

My dm does this all the time. I give her £30 cash I have on me to buy whatever. 2 days laters she buys me a £40 tshirt dress from m and s. Except I need the £30 not another tshirt dress.

Yes you can return it but rarely for cash and that's not the point!

No advise, just agreeing with you.

Hubbabubbababy123 · 14/07/2017 14:08

5foot5- sorry my first post I wasn't sure what went in subject. Yep I have said I need money but she insists I need those items She bought! Feel like getting my money back for the item I bough for her and let her get it herself!

OP posts:
pinkyflower · 14/07/2017 14:45

ask her for the receipt and get the money back from where she bought it?

mickeysminnie · 14/07/2017 15:31

Just return the item you bought for her and get your money back for it, if you can, if not exchange it for some other random thing and give her that!

Sparklepants · 14/07/2017 18:58

What are these items?

Tapandgo · 14/07/2017 19:20

Just take back what you bought for her and get a refund - then end all contact.
Problem solved.

Hubbabubbababy123 · 16/07/2017 09:20

Thanks everyone for replies! I have returned items I bought! I really don't need more plates sets! No matter how on sale they were!! It's prob not going to go down well but hay sure that's life! I hate conflict.
