wanting to talk about Jesus. No offence meant to anyone religious but I object to anyone un-invited knocking at my door at this time of night tbh. Am I being a knob or am I right to be a bit peeved???

tillykins · 24/03/2007 21:37

bit late really

Emskilou · 24/03/2007 21:37

Right it's bloody Sat night. I hate it it sets the dog off into a frenzy usually when i just got dc's off to bed! Shouldn't complain though, my sister had same bloke come twice in a week. She lives on her own with DC'S he was off his head on drugs asking for money. She gave him some the first time because he wouldn't take foot out of the door but managed to make him leave the second time after threatening to call the police !

willywonka · 24/03/2007 21:39

Too late by far imho and deffo not what you want when getting ready for a night out.

Emskilou · 24/03/2007 21:40

They made me burn my ear lobe with straightening irons, was not happy!!!!

lulumama · 24/03/2007 21:40

i like controlfreaky;s minimalist answer!

willywonka · 24/03/2007 21:40

lilyloo - that's appalling

colditz · 24/03/2007 21:41

WHAT!?

I would not have answered the door at all tbh, I'd have called through it, then just left them there. It's too late to phone for god#'s sake, never mind turn up and fix people with a lopsided gaze and barble about religion.

tillykins · 24/03/2007 21:43

you could have asked them on your night out.....

Emskilou · 24/03/2007 21:44

Thats what I though colditz, when I said no thank you they said they would call back another time, I said I would rather they didn't they just smiled and walked off. Bit creepy really

They were trying to save your soul Emskilou, you should be grateful

Emskilou · 24/03/2007 21:44

I didn't think of that tillykins will remember that for when they call again

OP posts:
glassslipper · 24/03/2007 21:45

LilyLoo · 24/03/2007 21:45

Emskilou · 24/03/2007 21:45

OMG does my soul need saving??? by looks of things yes, yes it does

9.30pm sounds a bit too late and I would be suspicious myself.

HillarysDancingInTheFairyField · 24/03/2007 21:48

You're in Essex are you not? We get alot of them too usually the Jahovas Whitnesses (sp?) they come in their lorry load. I have a note on my door saying "No cold callers please"

Have a nice night out

Yes I am hillary, the note sounds like a good idea, will stop the irritating little double glazing salesman and conservatory woman calling too.

You are in Essex too arent you?? I am off for a night of stupid dancing in Southend, if anyone sees a crazed woman in a red dress dancing like a tosser 'tis not me oh no, deffo not

I am a little worried as there is an elderly lady who lives a few houses up from me, I am sure she would have been frightened by them knocking at her door, she normally asks one of us to check she has locked the door properly, I'll go and see her tomorrow I think.

REASONABLE REASONABLE REASONABLE

FFS waht the F*uck are people doing calling round doors at this time of night?!

Thats really bad. I wouldn't answer my door at this time, if it's someone I know they'll ring from outside when i dont answer!

Thats a shame for the old lady as well.

Find out where they are from and complain to the church or whatever. tell them daytime is only appropriate!

Clearly they dont have a better way to spend a saturday night!!

MrsSpoon · 24/03/2007 22:03

I would be inclined to think that it was not a Jehovah's Witness at your door at 9.30pm on a Saturday night.

HillarysDancingInTheFairyField · 24/03/2007 22:09

Sounds like a con man to me, perhaps he wanted to see what you had inside your home.

Certainly get alot of sailsmen/women up this way that and Pizza leflets

I'd go and see the old lady, poor thing, we have an old couple over the road from us and I always keep an eye on them. Someones always trying to get a pretty penny from them for something or another

Emsklou go boogie stop talking to us lonley old farts

collision · 24/03/2007 22:09

From my experience and from what I know about JWs they do not go preaching at this time of night.

I think they have social lives too! And I dont know where you are but it is freezing here and I would have thought it was far too cold to preach!!
