Changing phone number due to violent ex WhatsApp

Does anyone know how to avoid new number showing on WhatsApp? I have noticed messages on my WhatsApp saying "076xxxx has changed to 074xxxxxx" which defeats the purpose if this happens. If I uninstall the app and reinstall don't know if that would do it rather than using the "change number" feature ?

Could you block him? Or not use whatsapp?

Was going to say the same as above - wouldn't blocking him work?

No as I have had 1000s of calls on private which you can't block

Delete the what's app from your phone

Put new sim in

Download what's app again from your new number and I believe then nobody will know you've changed your number
