My neighbours over the road are currently entertaining the street with their latest ding ding. I have been upstairs putting DD down and heard an argument along the lines of
Him: "Well you say the most stupid shit"
Her: "You wind me up"
Him "you bloody wind yourself up!"
Her "are you KIDDING ME? Repeat what you said to our Jean and think to yourself why it kicked off"
Him "Mary Poppins is shit! It fucking is. I'm not having it, it's so unrealistic!"
Her "THAT IS ENOUGH"
Then she got in her car and sped off and I'm pretty sure he said "cheerio" Grin

  1. Mary Poppins isn't shit.
  2. I am desperate to know how this argument started and what the back story is
  3. What's the best argument you have overheard?

Hilarious! Also how dare he say Mary poppins is shit!

thatstoast · 11/07/2017 20:18

Oh dear, storm's coming in.

Rhubarbginisnotasin · 11/07/2017 20:18

I cant wait for the new one being released on 25/12/18

PuppyMonkey · 11/07/2017 20:19

I agree with him, it IS shit.

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 11/07/2017 20:20

I wanted to start singing "I love to laugh hahahah" out of the window but I thought better of it.

OP posts:
Soubriquet · 11/07/2017 20:20

Oh please sing it!!!

caffeinestream · 11/07/2017 20:22

Something is brewing, about to begin....

TheCatsWhiskers · 11/07/2017 20:24

Can't put me finger on what lies in store.
But I fear what's to happen all happened before.

Haworthy · 11/07/2017 20:24

Stick your head out the window and say something about Dick Van Dyke's cor-luv-a-duck accent, and stir the pot a bit more.

TheLuckyMrsPine · 11/07/2017 20:27

Who is Jean?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/07/2017 20:28

Love Mary poppins. Watching it as an adult, you realise how very sad it is. One of my all time favourites

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 11/07/2017 20:29

Sadly he has gone in and she has driven off.
I think Jean might be a sister, I'm not sure. I've heard the name before at BBQs and the like.

Before my neighbour split with his white witch of avalon wife and moved his naturist fancy woman in they had the most amazing arguments.

'You've been looking at porn on my laptop, dont deny it' and 'you have stolen my essence, you have raped my soul' being particular favourites of mine.

I miss her. And her coven.

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 11/07/2017 20:44

liquid "stolen my essence" Grin
I would have loved to over hear that.

It was fantastic Keira. Now he romps naked in the garden with his new laydee. Not quite as enjoyable, especially since he looks like Barry Gibb.

BallOrAerosol · 11/07/2017 22:00

The film isn't shit but the books are! Mary Poppins is a mean and horrible character in the books, not soft and fluffy like the Julie Andrews portrayal. Strange thing to argue about though!

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 11/07/2017 22:30

Barry Gibb! Confused

Best comment I ever overheard was a VERY drunk fifty year old woman outside a pub loudly and aggressively telling her friend. "I've an affinity with the sea I have...a fuckin' affinity with the sea."

Whiterabbitears · 11/07/2017 23:13

Barry Gibb now or back in the day?

LoneCrone · 11/07/2017 23:21

See, I find the film sentimental and twinkly, and like the darker novels where MP is much less obviously appealing, vain and usually very cross, but more magical and there are several more Banks children. I'll see you outside! Grin

I quite like Mary Poppins in the books - she's a lot firmer, yes, but also a lot more magical and interesting.

iklboo · 12/07/2017 11:01

Mary Poppins gaslights the poor Banks children in the books. Getting them involved in something magical them denying it ever happened and pinching Michael when he protests.

Love 'it's not realistic'. That's because it's a film, dear neighbour. Wonder what his favourite movie is Grin

ImSoUnoriginal · 12/07/2017 11:12

Love Mary Poppins. It's supposed to be unrealistic. It's fantasy. Hmm
I used to live in a flat above a young couple who used to have big rows after a night out. It kicked off one night/morning after one of them ate some of the other ones burger. They were fine until they drank. Grin
