Leaving the tap running...

While brushing your teeth. Why?

I hate it as well OP.
If my DN (7) stays over he insists on having the tap running to constantly rinse his toothbrush, whilst brushing .
My DS (2) knows not to leave the tap running, and only turns it on to rinse his toothbrush when he's finished brushing.

Drives me fucking mad, DP does this and not just a trickle, full fucking blast. He also puts the shower on and leaves it running whilst he gets changed/goes for a poo/sorts his towels out. It can be running for 10 minutes before he gets in....it's instant hot water FFS!

I watched a TV programme a few years ago where the woman in the family would turn on ALL the taps in the house when she did the cleaning "because I love the sound of running water". They were doing a life-swap type thing with a family in Africa who only had a few litres of water per day

Can't understand how people can be so mindlessly profligate with a precious resource like clean safe drinking water. I put the plug in the shower over the bath and save the water to flush wees. Ditto in the kitchen... I keep an empty milk bottle by the sink to save drained vegetable water/ tea cup swishings etc to water the plants.

DH was at it this morning. Our tank is running dry at the moment, too...
I just see the logic. What had running water got to do with teeth brushing? Rinse you brush afterwards, fill your mouth rinsing cup. That's it, surely?
It is akin to having the toilet perpetually flushing while having a poo, in my mind.

It gives me the rage. As do people who admit to running the tap while they have a poo.

I used to do this,then we moved and we have a water meter,don't do it any more !
