AIBU to want to run away?

On the outside I have a lovely family, 2 DD's (9 & 10) a loving husband and a nice house. BUT I want to run away! Literally get in the car and go. I can't cope with the constant battles with the girls to do anything. I'm short tempered and shout LOTS. and I feel at my wits end. This isn't how I saw family life.

Could you be depressed OP ? Or hormonal ? menopausal ? There must be a reason you feel like this, as you seem to have a good relationship with dh and are aware youbhave a nice home and happy children. Girls do fight, and at that age they are probably starting to become a little hormonal too.

Do you work ? Maybe you need some time away from home, I don't mean run away ! I mean like interaction with other people. Something to focus on. A job, hobby ?

I'm terrified you're right, it could be early menopause but that makes me want to cry even more, because there's getting away from it. I'm already on citalopram, have been for a few years. I work 21 hrs a week and go to a dance class 1 evening a week. I yoyo between wanting to run away for myself and wanting to run away for their sake. I'm ruining their childhood because of my mood swings. I have no tolerance with them and it feels like they can't do anything right. I don't know what more I can do.

Do you think you might be on the wrong medication and could try something else instead?

sometimes life just feels like endless crap and I just want to be by myself. Maybe you need a break, I know I do.
