At the moment, I feel pretty low about things. My marriage ended. My children - I love them so very much but I have them all of the time and so I don't get a chance to go out, I am overweight, frumpy and heading towards middle age. Who would want me?

Sad

It's very early days OP

How long has it been ?

You need to heal yourself first before even considering new romance

Can you write a list of things that you really like doing and that make you happy

Also are you exercising and eating properly as before you even consider a diet that's a good place to start Flowers

emeraldisles · 08/07/2017 21:56

I'm not as I get so sad and find the days so long I eat my way to numbness Sad

Sounds like bad times at the moment but remember when you're at an all time low the only way is up.

So how old are you and how old are your DC?

emeraldisles · 08/07/2017 21:59

I'm 35, dcs are only little.

Wow emerald, I could have written this post myself and know what you mean. It would be nice to have someone to go on a date with, not even looking for a meaningful relationship.
I am so overweight that I hate looking at myself never mind expecting anyone else to like me

Sadcatlady69 · 08/07/2017 22:02

You sound as though you're a bit stuck in a rut at the moment and need to start taking small steps to get yourself out there.
How old are you DCs? Is there no one who could babysit whilst you took a class or a hobby once a week for a couple of hours? Do you work outside of the home? It would help to know a bit more so people could offer more useful advice.

I think maybe ask who would I want, rather than who would want me. As for being overweight - plenty of guys love cuddly women. But you need to decide what type of guy you want in your life first, and what your own deal breakers are. YOU are important, don't forget it.

Love yourself first my lovely! Then the men will follow! .....

SallyGinnamon · 08/07/2017 22:04

Good grief! Nowhere near middle age! You're still young. If your DC are little they are at their most tiring as they need so much attention don't they?

Do you have any family near by?

emeraldisles · 08/07/2017 22:06

I dont have anybody unfortunately Sad

It's so easy to type this

But the eating all day is a different version of an addiction such as drinking /smoking drugs

It makes you feel shit on so many levels doesn't it

Again it's easy to say but the traditional remedies for depression ( exercise , gardening , fresh air ) do work . They help

And if they they don't make you feel even a smidgen better it might be time to see GP and consider getting some antis

You are worth it and you deserve to be happy but it's bloody hard work to get activated to address it . But if you do nothing / nothing will change

Sandandwaves766 · 08/07/2017 22:07

Gosh when you said almost middle aged I was thinking you were alot older then 35 Grin work on yourself first and the rest ella follow. What age are your children?

TeachesOfPeaches · 08/07/2017 22:08

Don't worry who would want you, think if they're good enough for you.

SallyGinnamon · 08/07/2017 22:08

Right. So first things first you need to start getting some fun back in your life that includes your DC.

What sort of things did you enjoy doing before you had them?

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 08/07/2017 22:11

What exercise do you like
Do you have you tube
Can you find a hobby or nature reserve to visit with kids
Are you religious and are there any nice churches
Do you have any other single mums and even married mums to swap childcare with
Could you all get cheap bikes and start cycling
Are there any nice walks nearby
Are you a member of a library and if so can you borrow some good books on eating healthily
Are there any groups nearby for single parents (GP will have them)

Again easy to type and none of these might float your boat / what do you like and enjoy ??
