I swear the longer we are married the more he infuriates me. He has been away this week tues am -thurs pm. Now all 3 DC have been really poorly to the extent of having to take DD1 for her regular trip to A+E for steroids and antibiotics on tues. Then Wed I started throwing up, diaohrria high temp etc but still had to look after the children and basically put myself to bed when they went. Now DH came in tonight at 6.30pm and I said that I was taking DD2 to walk in centre as she has got a really bad cough, temp and throwing up her milk and of course only being 11wks old I cant give her anything and am trying to get rid of the bug from the house. Anyways he then starts moaning about having to put the other 2 to bed so I said ok will stay to help but then am going. As I am about to walk out the door at 7.05pm he says
'I need to see a DR I am really ill'
[me really concerned]'oh why whats the matter?'
[him] 'Ive got a tickly sore throat'

I mean WTF??????!!!!!!!??????
The reason I am fuming is because on wednesday I actually phoned him and begged him to come home as I was having to throw up in a bowl while carry the baby in a sling and DD1 on my hip and poor DS was crying at the sight of it all and also generally feeling unwell himself. We dont have anyone we can call on apart from his parents and on wed his dad was out and his mum could move with her arthritis which means I was stuck. Now on Wed on the phone he told me I was being pathetic and would manage fine. Now obviously I did but I spent most of yesterday lying on the bed with the children all around and now hes moaning about a tickly sore throat

Nemo, I'm so sorry you have had such an awful week. Shame on your dh

KittyLetteMeEatAnEasterEgg · 23/03/2007 19:58

(((((((())))))))))

i had exactly the same thing with my DF a few months ago,

when it comes to illness men are truely pathetic!

how are your LOs now? and you of course??

(i wont enquire about DHs tickly throat)

Nemo2007 · 23/03/2007 19:59

beansprout I am actually boiling at the min with fury...lol
Think it didnt help that last night we got into bed at 12am and DD2 promptly threw up all over it so of course had to strip it all off and her etc..obviously not her fault but he huffed and puffed all the way through it.

I really, really feel for you. I only have one kid and when both of us were ill, or when I was ill when dh was away recently, it was hard enough. He has clearly never looked after sick children. Is there any way you could give him some much needed training in this area?

Nemo2007 · 23/03/2007 20:00

lol Kitty
I still have a bad cough but am on the mend
DD1 steroids have helped her breathing but still waiting for chest infection to be gone
DS hes ok bit snotty
DD2 obviously she has just gone to walk in centre with DH as I sent him instead so he can see the bloody dr.

beansprout I know part of the problem is me as our DD1 has been quite poorly and in and out of hospital so I always stayed with her or looked after her or took her etc. DS is usually fairly robust although since he started playgroup has had every bug going!! Of course DD2 is now starting to join the fun..lol

How is it your fault? You are not to blame Nemo.

duke · 23/03/2007 20:06

Man flu alert. Honestly sometimes you just want to walk out for a week and see how they would cope. We've just got through a week of gastric flu and to top it off, just when we were nearly bug free DS gets a sick bug and was vomiting everywhere. DH went on a bender fri night and spent sat morning puking. DS said 'daddy I been sick'. DH said 'me too'. I screamed 'yes but he's not been pouring lager into his head has he'. He was shocked at my out burst. He wanted me to be sympathetic to his self induced illness!

Nemo2007 · 23/03/2007 20:10

duke pmsl have had that conversation before aswell!!

beansprout I mean more in a molly coddled him type of way that I probably dont give him much responsibility when it comes to the kids.

You have my sympathy. DD and I recently had a very nasty vomiting bug. Whilst she was asleep and I was in bed between swift visits to the loo, DH was cleaning the door frame whilst exclaiming how filthy the place was which was obviously the cause of the bug and how I had given him the impression that I cleaned the place thoroughly. What an a**e hole. Thankfully he got the same bug the next day . Revenge is sweet.
