I live in a cul de sac and have a dog. The neighbours opposite also have a dog, as does the ndn and a bloke further down the road. They tend to set each other off if they happen to be outside at the same time. I do what I can to stop this as I know it must be grating to hear for non-doggy people.
Today I have received a note telling me that my dog barked at 7am today and woke everyone up on the first day of the school holidays. Genuinely feel bad about it of course, I'd be pissed off too and understand why they are annoyed.
However...
Their way of dealing with it has really riled me. I've checked with the owner of the dog opposite, who also had a bark at the same time this morning and they have not received a note. The note I received was unsigned and also, well it's a note, they could have at least spoken to me rather than dropping a PA time bomb in my letterbox.
I'm fairly sure I know who sent the note. This person has a reputation for complaining about everything. When she complained to my neighbours opposite that they were parking wrongly (on their own drive), they told her to do one and she's not complained about their dog or anything since.
Also this woman's child has chucked large stones at my downstairs windows and stolen from my garden. And a petty point, but he plays basketball outside for hours every afternoon in the summer, and the constant noise makes baby naps difficult. No problem, I said to her, about the stones and the stealing, kids will be kids and they have to learn. I've never even mentioned the bloody basketball as it's the child's right to have fun. It would be nice if, in return, she could cut me the tiniest bit of slack about the dog, or at least have the decency to speak to me directly.
So essentially I know IABU to have a barky dog. I know it. It's not fair on any of the neighbours and I'll sort it out.
But it is she also BU for her behaviour as well? Who is more U? Would it be U to get the dog to go out and bark like mad tomorrow at 7am til she comes out to complain so I can tell her she forgot to sign the letter?
