spotting in early pregnancy

falahlahlahlah · 03/07/2017 14:08

Just posting on here for someone to hold me hand Sad

I am 8 weeks pregnant. I had a tiny bit of spotting today. This has never ever happened in previous pregnancies (I have 2DC)

I embarrassed myself sobbing at the early pregnancy assessment unit but I'm worried sick.

Is this normal? I have no pain or anything just a small (really small) bit of blood and absolutely nothing since.

Spotting can be normal especially without pain. I have two friends who had periods all through their pregnancies.

However if it gets worse or you get cramps that's not a good sign.

I hope all is well with your baby. Nothing you can do will make a difference to what happens so do whatever you need to to feel better while you wait.

Are they going to scan you?

Smilingthru · 03/07/2017 14:12

Don't be embarrassed!! It's completely normal to be worried and you've done the right thing in getting checked out.

Hand hold for u 💐

MissClimpsonsTypingBureau · 03/07/2017 14:12
Flowers It's all so anxiety inducing at this point. I can't tell you everything's fine for you. But i had spotting for several days around 8 weeks and everything was fine - DS is now 4 months old. I know lots of people who've had similar experiences.

Hope everything checks out OK.

SpongySand · 03/07/2017 14:13

Flowers a tiny bit of spotting is generally considered normal. Keep seeking medical advice but just come on here for a handhold. Don't listen to any nonsense, listen only to the midwives advice, handhold for you OP.

falahlahlahlah · 03/07/2017 14:16

I have a scan tomorrow morning.

I just felt like I was going to explode with worry when I walked into the early pregnancy unit. God I'm mortified now but I couldn't keep it in. The nurse was lovely.

It really was the smallest amount of blood within some clear discharge.

I think when you haven't experienced it before it's such a shock

I had spotting with my first and she is a happy healthy 7year so I think aslong as it doesn't get any heavier try not to worry! Hope everything turns out okay OP Flowers

APMom · 03/07/2017 14:27

I had bleeding at 12 weeks the day after a bad fall (fall was probably nothing to do with the bleed) and everything went fine with the rest of the pregnancy. Good luck with the scan.

MyPatronusIsAUnicorn · 03/07/2017 14:28

Good luck for your scan tomorrow.

Hammy12345 · 03/07/2017 14:32

I had bleeding in both of my pregnancies. I now have a 2 year old and a 5 year old. It's horrible waiting for the scan to see what is going on, but please be reassured that some bleeding doesn't necessarily mean something bad is happening.

LittleLionMansMummy · 03/07/2017 14:33

I had spotting (actually mistook it as the start of my period so it was heavier than spotting) early on with ds (I have pcos so my periods were very irregular and I just thought it was a longer cycle rather than pregnancy). He's now a very healthy, but very noisy, 6yo! Had pains on left hand side with my second but no bleeding. Shes now a beautiful 7mo. Hope it goes well op. Flowers

BlurryFace · 03/07/2017 14:33

I bled in every trimester with DS1, sometimes a little bit mixed in with discharge as you describe, other times big clots. They never found a reason, and the pregnancy went to term without a hitch. I had one bleed early on with DS2, again, no reason found, and went to term with no complications. It's so worrying though.Flowers

Chattycat78 · 03/07/2017 14:39

I've been pregnant 3 times, and bled every time. 2 out of 3 iof those times resulted in a live birth. The first time was a Mc, admittedly, but the second time, I had a significant red bleed at 8 weeks. I was horrified and sure I had lost the baby- I was in the Maldives tooSad. A scan on our return showed that all was well however. Grin. On this pregnancy I had on and off spotting until about 12 weeks.

On the third pregnancy I had an all day red bleed at about 6 weeks. A scan showed it was twins that time!

The odds are in your favour that all is ok. Of course I can't promise this, but try not to panic yet.

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 03/07/2017 14:44

I had spotting with both pregnancies (been pregnant twice), first got heavier, very quickly and was a miscarriage. Second carried on very lightly for a week and I panicked a lot but an early scan showed a heartbeat and that little heartbeat is now a beautiful 7 month old sleeping in my lap.
I hope tomorrow brings you good news Flowers

peachgreen · 03/07/2017 14:52

I had spotting at 8 weeks with this pregnancy - now 10+6 and all was fine at my booking in scan 3 days ago. Apparently 8 weeks is the most common time to get spotting because it's when your period would be due. Hope all is okay for you tomorrow OP!

thatdearoctopus · 03/07/2017 14:57

I had spotting in the first few weeks.
He's now about to turn 21 years old.

Carley27 · 03/07/2017 15:10

I had bright red spotting (a little heavier that spotting at first) at around 7 weeks, early scan confirmed all ok.

Continued to have spotting (usually bright red, sometimes darker) from 7-10ish weeks. Had my dating scan at 13 weeks and all looked fine. 15+5 now and have had no more spotting.

I hope your scan goes well tomorrow, I remember the wait being awful but try to keep yourself distracted (impossible I know). Here to handhold if you need.

falahlahlahlah · 03/07/2017 15:15

Ladies you're wonderful. I feel more reassured. Please cross your fingers, say a prayer or anything you like that it's ok Star

Will do. Let us know how things go tomorrow!

Zaberwocky · 03/07/2017 17:36

First of all, don't feel embarrassed for crying Smile I really hope you get good news tomorrow.

Generally, no pain is good! Bleeding can have so many causes, and not all of them are sinister. If it reassures you at all, I bled up until around 10-11 weeks. Think proper, big, jean soaking gushes. I'm now 18.5 weeks and all looks fine Smile

I have everything crossed for you OP. Have you got yourself on one of the mumsnet antenatel groups? You'll find tons of support there too.

I've had 3 pregnancies and spotted at around 8 weeks in both the first and third one. All 3 pregnancies resulted in full term healthy girls.

Good luck. Of course you're worried, you wouldn't be human if you weren't. Don't be embarrassed Flowers

Zaberwocky · 04/07/2017 18:10

Any update OP? Flowers

DragonsandDungeons · 04/07/2017 18:34

I had spotting with both my DS and my MC. I worried like mad both times and had two different outcomes. I've concluded that on its own spotting means f/all. Try not to worry, easier said than done I know.

Carley27 · 05/07/2017 14:01

Hope you're ok OP Flowers
