Hand, Foot and Mouth and Sleepover!

Hi everyone..

Looks like my DD (11mo) has developed hand, foot and mouth 😭 She was exposed on Thursday to a little boy who developed symptoms the next day. She has a bit of a temp and a rash has started to appear on her arms Sad

We're moving house Saturday and have arranged for DD to stay with her GPs Fri-Sun so that we can move and unpack without worrying about DD and we also need to paint her room back to magnolia during this weekend.

But now DD is poorly what should I do? She might be on the mend by Friday but who knows. She hasn't stayed with this set of GPs before so I feel really mean. I know they'll look after her and she does love the fuss she gets from them. I do want to keep her with me ideally but we've got so much we need to do this weekend and no other time to do it 😫😩 Sod's law isn't it!

Are the GPs aware of it?
Any illnesses with them?
I have an immune problem and hand, foot and mouth will make me relapse.

Don't forget that your child's immune system is busy fighting that off, might not be able to fight off anything else.

GPs are young, fit and healthy (40's).. I don't know what to do! ☹️

Ask them what they want to do im sure they will take her fwiw it should be starting to clear up by friday usually only lasts 7 days

They should be really OK, especially if they are fit. DD had that so many times and except for the odd sneeze we never had any other issue.

Then it has to be their choice

agentdaisy · 03/07/2017 11:58

Let them know that she has it and let them decide whether to still look after her. I wouldn't think it would be a problem as long as she's okay in herself. My dd had it and was fine in herself and still went to school as it's not an illness that requires quarantine.

Ask them what they want to do?

Maybe they could have her in the day but not overnight?

How far away are they?

Might be cheeky depending on your relationship with them but maybe one of you could stay at theirs with DD and one of them could help paint and pack/move?

Yes - just check with them. But my ds was actually perfectly well other than a bit of a rash.
