We have a new library in my town and it's lovely and modern and I think looks great however I've heard a few people complain that the children's section is along a window?? I think it's good as kids can see the whole town from the window nearly and makes it all light and fun apparently I'm wrong and all it does is attract paedos to look through the window???
These people are crazy aren't they? You can see kids everywhere, kids like windows, should we ban all children from Windows? I think people over think things sometimes but interested to hear other POV

I am terrible for being paranoid and suspicious but this wouldn't set alarm bells off for me, in fact our library is the same!

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 30/06/2017 14:23

What? Who said that? That is insane!

Only1scoop · 30/06/2017 14:27

Seriously what a load tosh. Let's just stick all under 18's In a cave eh....God forbid some local friendly old boy smiles at young DC through said window Hmm

MidniteScribbler · 30/06/2017 14:30

WTF?

DontChewMonkey · 30/06/2017 14:33

I thought you were going to say they meant from a safety aspect (which would have still been bonkers) but that is full on batshit Grin

NeverTooOldForAnything · 30/06/2017 14:33

That's bonkers!

Pickleypickles · 30/06/2017 14:34

Oh good glad it's not just me! Smile

Lunacy

alsmutko · 30/06/2017 14:37

Burkas for babies! There's no other way, folks!

YellowCushions · 30/06/2017 14:39

Maybe no adults should be inside if a child is in there. You know, just in case.

Smarshian · 30/06/2017 14:40

This is madness - pickles do you live in Chester by any chance?

00100001 · 30/06/2017 14:42

LOCK UP YOUR KIDS!!!

There's a paedophile on every corner!!

Oh wait....

Pickleypickles · 30/06/2017 14:44

Smarshian I do!! have you heard the same ridiculousness?

OP posts:
Nikephorus · 30/06/2017 14:44

I'm fairly sure the local paedophile will prefer the better view he gets when they walk out of the library... Hmm Some people go looking for trouble.

ChronicPainDaddy · 30/06/2017 14:46

Yeah thats mad. A few years ago when the new council swimming pool was built in my hometown people went mad because the swimming pool is surrounded on two sides by windows onto the main road so anyone walking past can look in and see anyone whos swimming. That raised a lot of concerns from people but in the end its not suffered from lack of use

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 30/06/2017 14:52

Is it a naked library? Confused

00100001 · 30/06/2017 14:53

People like those who complain about the windows have zero experience, training or understanding about child abusers and just add to the hysteria.

But then someone will pipe up and say "but what if somethin ghappened? How could you forgive yourself?"

Yet those people will happily jump into their car with their children and drive to town. Despite 100s of people being injured in car accidents every day and 1732 people being killed in a car crash in 2015. That's 4.75 people EVERY DAY.

But no. Apparently the bigger danger to a child is sitting them by a window in a library Hmm

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 30/06/2017 14:53

Actually twice I've found underwear in libraries so perhaps that's a thing Hmm

Either way, YANBU. Some people can work themselves up into hysteria over anything

BeBeatrix · 30/06/2017 14:59

The complainers sound like they're from Brass Eye :/

Ridiculous people!

Butterymuffin · 30/06/2017 15:06

Wow. I've heard it all now!

MycatsaPirate · 30/06/2017 15:13

Hahahaha, I've heard it all now, utter fucking batshit!

Our local library doesn't have a window in the kids section.

The local swimming pool however, has an entire glass wall on one side meaning anyone can see the kids swimming.

I suspect your locals would all break down in mass hysteria if they lived here.

muckypup73 · 30/06/2017 15:16

Be like that with your child and I bloody pity your child, as you will wrap them in cotton wool and smother them, a peado looking through a window? when a child is fully clothed? how fucking ridicolous, as ridiciolous as my friend telling her daughter not to go anymore than 3 steps of her with the baby incase there a peado or someone snatches the baby, then she wonders why the kids have problems?

Smarshian · 30/06/2017 15:17

Yes pickles - they are all bonkers! The library is lovely though, gorgeous window seats!

C8H10N4O2 · 30/06/2017 15:24

There is no accounting for the weirdness of people
