Ok there's a thread by 3 different posters with user plus many numbers.

one is for fat shaming obese people. one is telling us all she's slimmer than her bride mate and going to dam well show her and everyone at her friends wedding how gorgeous she is and the other one found her dh in bed literally shagging her best mate.

Coukd you all change your names to something different as it's a tad confusing and disturbing.

I can see when the OP posts because all the posts are highlighted, otherwise, it gets a tad confusing for the rest. You can just treat the "users" as one person, does it really matter? I quote at least the sentence I am replying to, and even with the best will, I can't remember what someone wrote 3 or 4 pages up, so when they get offended because I don't remember.. too bad

It's the way the forum is set up.

I just ignore the user people so do I, along with the people who announce they've namechanged.

I change my username every few days I don't see how that is any different to people with the user12345 user names.

coddiwomple well it does matter, because it's difficult to follow if what appears to be one poster starts making contradictory posts. What should be a conversation is reduced to a series of random statements and sentences. Especially when there's no actual quote function.

It's bloody annoying.

I also tend to completely blank the posts full of swear words, which usually ends up with someone furiously asking "but I said I did xxx, didn't you read it". well, no. You are free to swear, I am free to ignore it.
It's only a light-hearted forum anyway!

Some 'users' had problems name changing a while ago and it's possible that they now CBA to try again.
This ridiculous name system is not the fault of the 'user', go to Site Stuff and tell HQ how much of a pain it is. There again people have been asking for a year or more for MN to do something about it, so I don't think they have any intention of changing back to the original system.

I ignore them too. A lot of them just start goady threads so it's easier not to bother reading what they say.

I hate the user number names but the first time I saw one I thought "that's a clever name" not realising there was hundreds of them just generated by Mumsnet wish they would sort it out, it's pretty ridiculous.

I agree with you. I just think of them all as trolls, tourists or journalists (same thing?)

If it's hard to name change for some I had no idea as have never had no problem changing myself.

Babs this it it though if MrsOver is always snippy she's easily remembered as her user name is memorable.

As you can see I came up with a great solution to this issue. 🤣

Yes exactly that's what I should do from now on but their threads are very interesting and generally dramatic
