So it was our 11th Wedding Anniversary yesterday. I accept things aren't perfect between us at the moment but we had plans for a family day out yesterday and a meal in a restaurant.
I got dh a card and his favourite chocolates. When I said Happy Anniversary and gave him his card and gift. He said sorry I forgot. I will get a card on the way.
This never happened.
So today he said he was going to go out and get a card. I told him not to bother as it's too late now. Wibu

No. Yanbu.
But that doesn't have to mean no forgiveness either - no point getting you a card this time but he can maybe resolve to put in a bit more effort on a future occasion (birthday or whatever)

Being bad with dates and remembering stuff i'd be a pretty crap DH as well but surely if you had specifically booked a table at a restaurant and planned a family day out then he could have put two and two together and realised it was an important day. YNBU

Tbh I know he didn't forget date. He even booked the table and he knew it was our anniversary when booked.
Tbh I shouldn't be surprised. I ended up buying my own birthday present this year as I wasn't specific enough. He did pay though.
I think he is just lazy.

YANBU at all - the whole point is the thoughtfulness, not going through the motions to buy a card because your supposed to.

I think your first line "things aren't perfect between us at the moment" sums up the problem really. It's very seldom DH and I both remember/have time to buy a card/present on our wedding anniversary - so I'd find this aspect of it really not worth the fuss - the card is symbolic surely rather than being something you're desperate to get?
(we do generally go out to celebrate though and we appreciate each other the rest of the year)

You are right redsky. If everything was perfect I could probably accept that he was too busy to get a card.
It just seems to me that he has become really selfish.
I am going to have to stop bothering I guess as its not the 1St time he has put in so little effort. Thinking about it he didn't do Valentine's Day either and last Years birthday was an IOU for a night out which of course I had to organize.
