... touching a raw chicken

DH was annoyed to find me washing it in the sink, holding it with a wooden spoon and told me to get a grip and just hold it instead.
Yuk.

What does your DP think you'll eventually come around to?

You do know that washing chicken is pointless and dangerous, right? You end up splashing dirty water all over the kitchen. If the outside of the chicken is dirty, it doesn't really matter, as it gets cooked v thoroughly, anyway.

Ha, that will shut him up!

Here is a cite for the 'don't wash' argument.

My DH used to think you needed to wash meat, too.

crunchie · 21/03/2007 20:57

why on EARTH would you wash meat ????

ELF1981 · 21/03/2007 21:13

Dunno! DH has always done it.
He does whine about me not touching raw meat though, but its gross!

I hate handling raw meat and use a pair of rubber gloves

powder28 · 22/03/2007 14:54

I hate touching raw chicken, but i will do it. However I made my husband take the giblets out of the backside of a duck, luckily they were in a bag. He put the marigolds on to do it though! And i had to ask him about twenty times

raspberryberet · 22/03/2007 14:55

If he's that bothered about how you handle his meat get him to deal with it himself ...

lucyellensmum · 22/03/2007 22:33
