To think that taps are getting too complicated

I stood in the toilets of a training event today trying to wash my hands. They had some naive fancy taps so I put my hands under the spouty bit for about 30 seconds thinking the tap was sensor related, stupid thing wasn't. Then I had to work out how to get water to flow! Turns out it had a thing which I thought was the soap dispenser and I had to turn it. Am I the only one who thinks taps can be quite tricky these days?

Yanbu. I have been caught out by many a wanky tap.

Yes, I've done the thing of waving my hands like an idiot under taps that had no obvious 'on' mechanism .

Naive taps are the worst, I actually meant 'naice'

oh i had a terrible experience in a new hotel restaurant in Dundee....for a start the toilet doors are louvred so you can see out, and i presume people can see in if they are at the right angle.

THEN the taps have the weird sensor to get the water and were an odd T shape

I managed to get my hands wet and reached for the soap, went back to rinse BUT the top arms of the T turn into the dryer....and it was one of those super vicious air force hurricane style ones

it scared me, and I still had soap to rinse off, and then it wouldn't go back a stage to give me water so I had to brave another set to rinse.

I dried my hands on toilet paper.

Yes. Am totally fed up of modern "improvements" which are nothing of the sort. Bring back the old fashioned hot and cold on and off taps.

I was on the Eurostar today and my 6 yo had to show my how to get the tap to work in the toilet

I took out the turqoise bathroom with hot and cold taps when I moved into my 1970's semi 15 years ago.

The 'new' bathroom has been shite - literally.

I hate the mixer taps, and the toilet doesn't flush well.

I actually had to go and ask the staff how the taps worked at one restaurant in Sicily. Turned out to be a button on the floor.

Not bathroom taps but I always see that kitchen tap on the TV which gives hot, cold and boiling water and think that's an accident waiting to happen!

Noooo, how can anyone like the separate hot and cold water taps?! They must be the worst British invention ever.

Your options are frozen hands, painful in cold weather, or burned hands which is painful all the time .

Clearly my non mixer taps have addled my brain.

I've stood in a restaurant toilet many a time trying to figure out how to work the taps. I get that the sensor ones are more hygienic, but some of them are baffling to work.

I also hate those sensor loo flushes that flush if you move even slightly whilst going to the toilet and give you a fright!

Weeping I can totally picture all of that.

This reminds me of when I was to a park/ petting zoo thing and the taps were pedal powered (so you stepped on a pedal) and I couldn't for the life of me figure it out even though it worked for everyone else.

I had to slunk away in shame with my two year old feeling like an utter failure .

We have sensor taps at work. Sometimes I brush my teeth after lunch, but it's a bugger to wash my toothbrush afterwards as the sensor can't sense it
