To keep eating and eating and eating

I can't stop eating!!

DS is 8 months old, I was 8.5 stone before conceiving, got to 10.5 while pregnant and am now 9.5. My eating is getting worse and worse though and I'm just eating constantly and putting weight on. It's all rubbish food, I'm not a good cook so just eat junk all day!

Today I have had;

3 banana pancakes with maple syrup
Pain et chocolat
6 chocolate hobnob biscuits
A tracker cereal bar
A ham and cheese toastie
Half a cheese and ham omelette
A packet of crisps
About 10 haribo sweets
Tea later will be pasta.

I don't eat big portions at meal times but graze constantly all day.

Help me stop eating all the time!! I think it's boredom rather than hunger as I'm worse when at home all day.

Are you breastfeeding as that can make you hungry all the time. Youre also hungry as you have no proper meals with protein. Also start walking like mad with the buggy. I find when l exercise l eat well as dont want all that exercise wasted. Eat a proper breakfast and get out with the buggy.

I literally could have written your post (except I haven't weighed 8.5 stone since I was about 18 Grin)

I don't have any advice other than the usual- try not to have the stuff in the house, try going for a long walk every day to stave off the effects, etc. I've been lucky so far in that I'm still breastfeeding so the weight has mostly stayed off, but I am very squishy! And as I bf less and less I can see it just creeping on. Gargh.

I would be starving on that too! Whack your protein up
Omelette for breakfast
Huge salad with meat/cheese/fish for lunch
If you're hungry have some full fat Greek yog with berries or oatcakes and hummus or veg or cheese or sliced meats
Veg/salad is bulky but good for you so fills you up

I work from home and find it difficult not to graze.

My solution - I don't buy biscuits, sweets or crisps - because I will eat them in one go till they're gone, basically.

I buy carrots which I eat raw throughout the day to satisfy the urge to be chewing something.

Walking, a lot, helped lose the post baby weight. It's much easier to do this before they start toddling - then it takes forever to walk a very short distance!

Yes I'm breastfeeding so I know this can make me hungrier. I don't eat much meat and don't like vegetables so find proper meals difficult.

I need to stop buying food I think. I'm spending a fortune pooping to the supermarket every few days while on mat leave and picking up rubbish.

Any veg or salad or fruit that you eat?
Honestly, I don't love veg. I like some but not much but I eat it because I have to!

Foggymist · 22/06/2017 18:57

You'll be starving while breastfeeding. You don't like all the vegetables, all of them? Do you eat fish, chicken, pulses? Porridge, porridge bread, fruit, peanut butter and banana on wholemeal toast, lots of quick healthy options.

AvoidingCallenetics · 22/06/2017 18:57

I'm not even bf and I snack all day! So hard to get out of the habit of just nibbling.
The only things that have helped me in the past are to cut carbs or have strict calorie controlled diet with one 'treat' built in every day.

Aliveinwanderland · 22/06/2017 18:57

I eat any fruit. Salad just cucumber and tomato, no leaves. No veg at all. I will also eat mushrooms and onions if cooked.

I eat fish and chicken, no pulses.

Will eat bread and pasta but not rice and nothing whole grain.

Porridge yes, and bananas, peanut butter both yes.

Its the carbs that are getting you there! Cut down on carbs big time and replace with something healthier that you will eat and you'll soon lose some weight and feel better .

Ollivander84 · 22/06/2017 19:04

Mushrooms and onions (cooked) are good in omelettes with ham
Banana or apple spread with peanut butter works as a snack
Cucumber + dip too

Bobbiepin · 22/06/2017 19:04

Try to buy things that need cooking to eat, except healthier snacks like fruit (bananas would be good). If you are grabbing something quick out of boredom then make it so you only have healthier snacks that don't need more time and attention to eat

margaritasbythesea · 22/06/2017 19:05

I think you might be staying hungry because what you're eating is all very samey (carbs carbs carbs). Maybe add in more protein, good fat and veg and see how you go.
