To ask what to do with my "mummy tummy"

Buthewasstillhungry · 20/06/2017 21:45

I have been given zero useful/conflicting advice despite asking loads of friends.
My tummy six months post birth is still distended and wobbly.
What will help?
Some people have said don't do too much heavy exercise because of ligaments, Ive heard people talking about band things you can wear round it- what do they do?
TIA

Diet (calorie restriction) and weight bearing exercise. Go to the My Fitness Pal community area for good ideas/tips.

Might be worth a doc visit to check your muscles haven't been damaged or separated by the pregnancy. That could make it bulge more.

Sounds like u have a Diastasis? U need specialist help for this. Do not do curl ups or high intensity exercise until u sort this.

Sorry op mines never went away I'll need a tummy tuck to remove it.

Does sound like diastasis recti (separated tummy muscles). Ask GP to check. You can have physio to try and bring the muscles back together. It's petty common but GPs and HVs often seem to consider it something that women have to live with. But there are exercises that might help. I have a particularly bad one after 3 pregnancies and have been referred for surgery. I still look 6 months pregnant easily, 18 months after my last baby was born.
