I think we need a referendum to decide.

DesignedForLife · 20/06/2017 13:10

Haha, no. Enough politics already.

Come on - we love a Referendum - over 37 million took part in the last one!

I think you don't keep asking the question until you get the answer you want. Thats not how democracy works. Are you listening Nicola Sturgeon?

Ftr I voted remain.

SquidgeyMidgey · 20/06/2017 16:07

Sorry is this a mickey take that I took seriously? Blush

lalalalyra · 20/06/2017 16:08

If we can't afford to fund schools and hospitals then we can afford referendum after election after referendum.

HerOtherHalf · 20/06/2017 16:12

So this thread is a referendum for a referendum for a referendum?

Logically, it is a silly idea. If you did have a referendum for a referendum, everybody that wanted independence would vote Yes and everybody who is happy with the status quo would vote No. So you might as well just have the referendum and save wasting time and money on a meaningless exercise.

HerOtherHalf · 20/06/2017 16:14

FFS thought we were talking about IndyRef, Logic still applies though.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/06/2017 16:19

First we need a referendum to decide the proportion of people it takes to decide certain issues. A two thirds majority for constitutional matters? Referenda for All!

Like .

Flowerfae · 20/06/2017 16:23

so basically keep having referendums until we get the 'right' answer? :D

Cuppaoftea · 20/06/2017 16:25

Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or remain in the European Union?

McTufty · 20/06/2017 16:30

Don't forget a referendum on the terms of the referendum, should the referendum decide that a further referendum is required.

If we had voted for Lord Buckethead we'd be getting one.

He put that in his manifesto. Shame....

Witchend · 20/06/2017 16:38

Range of opinions on here.
I know lets have a referendum to decide if we need another referendum on whether we need another EU referendum.
I'm sure people have nothing better to do.

JunefromAccounts · 20/06/2017 17:10

Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or remain in the European Union?

No

TheNaze73 · 20/06/2017 17:48

There's no need. We celebrate election failure as a success in this country. I was a remainer & if Corbyn thinks he won the last general election, I will follow his logic, so we're staying in Grin

SilverDragonfly1 · 20/06/2017 17:50

MrsTerryPratchett You're putting the cart before the horse there! We will have to have a referendum about who is entitled to vote in the referendum about what majority is large enough to make a referendum legal.

Referendum.

Clalpolly · 20/06/2017 18:18

TheNaze, that is fantastic.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/06/2017 18:20

@SilverDragonfly1 I can only apologize! Grin

CheeseMcCheeserson · 20/06/2017 18:39

Amateurs. First we need a referendum to decide upon who can vote in the upcoming referendum. The follow up referendum establishes the percentage needed for a specific vote to carry. If this referendum itself doesn't not pass with the required majority then all further referendums are cancelled until a further referendum procedure can be debated and passed as law.

Only after this process is completed can you have a referendum to decide if we should have another referendum. Scotland get an extra referendum to decide if they need another referendum on the basis of the U.K. Wide referendum result.

coconuttella · 20/06/2017 19:35

We should have weekly Referenda on whether we want to stay in the EU.... only that way can we sure that the current views of the public are truly represented!
