Huffing

For father's day yesterday at a family BBQ. Lots of huffing about making the food and clearing it up. We would have been happy with simple food like salad to go with things from BBQ but they had made far too much. I tried to help but told not to and it led to being uncomfortable. Why invite people round if you then huff about it?

I hate that! I think its because they regret it once they start making it all etc they realise its too difficult or too much work etc then they just naturally start huffing. It makes such an awkward atmosphere doesn't it? And makes you feel like when you do sit down to eat you have to over compensate with the "mmmm this is fantastic thank you so much" etc etc haha its so awkward!!

Haha, possibly! I know it was hot and just seen the BBQ thread on here. But why bother going to such a fuss? Why not just relax, have a bit of bread of something and a salad, rather than spend the entire time huffing, rushing around etc thought it would be nice to relax and just chill. Even DS (8) was huffed at as he was swinging and didn't help enough with the food and he got left with no pudding which i thought was a bit harsh!

There does tend to be passive aggressive huffing on this side of the family- mainly the women but also the men at times.

Bless him, he was just ignored and at the bottom of the pudding list I think, but he just said could he go off and play again, wasn't too bothered. YY to the martyr thing. It's so wearing. And when menfolk asked to help it was no, it;s father's day, just sit there! (with a snarky smile)
