... to expect a restaurant loo cubicle to be large enough to get into?

Why oh why do they not make the doors open outwards? There's usually plenty of room for them to do so. But instead they are always designed to open inwards, and so they jam up against the sanitary towels caddy, and customers have to squeeze in. And that's the non-pregnant customers. At our local Chez Gerard, the only way i could get avail myself of the facilities at 27 weeks was to stand on the loo, shut the door, then climb down to commence operations.

There should be a law ...

We have tilets like this at our local night spot - its a big all emcompassing restuarants, clubs, leisure and shops do - so it attracts all ages, shapes and sizes, yet the toilets doors are useless. can't get me and DD to help her go to the loo unless I carry her and then do some sort of yoga move to shut the door

I second your call for a law!

I used the disabled toilet at our mexican restuarant recently as it was the only one I could shut the door of! I thought it was just because I'm pregnant, but then I noticed the next woman (a completely normal size) having to dangle over the toilet while shutting the door! I hate having to squeeze past the sanitary bins and toilet - can be so unhygenic!

I got stuck in the toilet on a night out a few weeks ago , took me about ten minutes to work out how to get out the door, round the bin etc (in my defence I was tipsy and had very high heels on)
