To mention DBS check on CV?

Hi everyone.

Not a very exciting or important AIBU, I realise!

I understand that a lot of places will process their own DBS check for volunteers and/or paid employees.

Is it worth it anyway to mention on a CV about having a current enhanced DBS check?

yes especially if you are on the update service and it can get you work quicker

I thought you have to have a new one for every place you work so wouldn't it be a bit pointless?

If it is a transferable one, yes. If not it is a bit pointless.

If the role does not require one then even less reason to mention it.

no potential employers can check your dbs without having to apply for a whole new cert.

Yes, I'd mention it, in the same way that I mention having a full clean driving licence.

If you are registered with the update service definitely mention it as they will not have to process another full check. (Although there are a few roles to which this does not apply), some organisations also haven't quite 'caught up' with how it all works. Include your update service reference and they can run the check within minutes using the update service system after an offer of employment has been accepted (with your permission) As an employer, I can say it is really useful if someone has this. Also, I have encountered people who have run their own check using the system, on themselves, printed off the results and took this along to interview. They will probably still need to check it themselves, but it showed initiative! You are correct, you will have an annual direct debit payment or need to remember to make a debit card payment to renew this continually - make sure you update any changes to your account details etc to ensure this goes through! If it does not process due to payment issues you will have to start again with a full dbs application.
