I follow a YouTuber who makes lots of music videos. She has a song about leonardo dicaprio and says -

Racist? Or just ignorant?

I don't understand that reference at all. (Possibly because I am old.....) Can you explain why you think this is racist..

I haven't seen Django Unchained, and I don't know the plot, other than I think Django was a slave. Leonardo DiCaprio was in the movie.

If so, it's perhaps not racist insofar as it's an insult directed at someone, but I'd suggest that level of crass insensitivity and making light of a subject like that is racist, yes.

Django is a fictional character, originally a white cowboy in a spaghetti western, more recently reimagined by Quentin Tarantino as a freed slave (a black character).

Django is the one doing the whipping so not sure how this lyric can be interpreted as racist.
