What should I do? I always kiss DD and have noticed this evening I have a cold sore coming up. And then I saw her lip looked like this. I think it looks like she has a cold sore. She is 8 weeks. What do I do?

Call your doctor.

early30smum · 16/06/2017 22:19

I'd call the non emergency number for advice- is she ok in herself? The cold sore virus can be very serious for babies.

PraiseTheSun · 16/06/2017 22:20

I have been reading about how serious it can be.
She has been fine in herself.

My baby used to come up with random red blotches and pimples, are you sure it's not just a spot? From that photo it looks to me like a reddened area due to a spot but I could obviously be totally wrong!

Supersoaryflappypigeon · 16/06/2017 22:21

I would definitely still have her seen by a doctor. You can't be too careful with newborns.

QuiteLikely5 · 16/06/2017 22:22

Anyone else reading this incase they don't know you should not kiss a baby with a cold sore!!!!!

PraiseTheSun · 16/06/2017 22:23

I haven't kissed her since I felt the cold sore Sad

Call the doctor asap just in case. She's 8 weeks she needs you to do this.

PraiseTheSun · 16/06/2017 22:24

Our doctor is closed for the weekend and we don't have a walk in. Call non emergency and see if they say I should take her to the hospital?

You weren't to know praise-cold sores can appear all of a sudden. It might not even be a cold sore but I always err of the side of caution with babies.

Supersoaryflappypigeon · 16/06/2017 22:25

Yes call them

Fightingthefire · 16/06/2017 22:25

Please call 111. She's very small and they can advise you.

Onetedisbackinbed · 16/06/2017 22:26

Is there a chance it's a milk rash? Or is that an ulcer above the little pimples?

Sophiealice95 · 16/06/2017 22:27

TBH with you it doesn't look like a cold sore at all to me OP hope she is ok my dear

UrsulaPandress · 16/06/2017 22:28

I'm sure she will be fine. But call 111 for advice.

I'm a lifelong sufferer. As was my dad. And my DD. I can't remember what age she got her first

FKat2016 · 16/06/2017 22:28

Would a pharmacy be able to help with this sort of thing in the meantime?

PraiseTheSun · 16/06/2017 22:28

Thank you all. Now calling.
She does get milk spots and blemishes. It just seems big to be a milk spot. I don't know.

Thank you all. I spoke to 111 and they said to see how she goes and to take her to the doctors on Monday as she isn't showing any other symptoms.
