Dog on grass

Shopping centre is celebrating summer by covering the paving stones with an area of artificial grass and some deckchairs. People are sitting around, on the grass as well as on chairs, chatting, eating sandwiches, ice creams, and takeaway lunches. A woman with a baby in a buggy and an older child walks across the grass. She has a small pugtype dog on a lead walking behind her. Dead centre of the grass the dog pauses and poops. The woman is the focus of dozens of eyes. She produces a doggy bag, picks up the offerings and puts the bag in a litter bin. We all carry on chatting, eating, then hear 'he always poops when he's on grass'!!
Why walk him across the artificial grass where people are sitting and childrenplaying when she could easily have skirted around it?

As a dog owner I'm going to guess it's a bit of an over exaggeration/bad wording. My dog also always poops on grass. By that I mean she won't poo on concrete and the only times she goes will be on grass, I don't mean she goes every time she is on the grass if that makes sense?

She picked it up and disposed of if so I'd say no harm done. If this is outdoors it's only a matter of time before a bird drops one anyway it isn't a sterile environment .

SpareChangeDownTheSofa · 16/06/2017 15:51

She picked it up, what's the problem??

She's probably exaggerating a little, all dogs will poop when they need to poop.

ThymeLord · 16/06/2017 15:54

She picked it up. Why is this an issue?

FrankiesKnuckle · 16/06/2017 15:57

Disappointed it's not a thread about a weed smoking pooch.

ThymeLord · 16/06/2017 15:57

Maybe the pooch was stoned which was why it didn't give a shit about where it shat? Grin

Beeziekn33ze · 16/06/2017 15:58

Yes, outdoors. To me it seems equivalent to a poop on carpet after which you'd surely disinfect before letting children play there or anyone sit there. Or you'd at least go over the area with a wet wipe.

Yup, that's what I expected too.

requestingsunshine · 16/06/2017 16:01

She picked it up. Why is this an issue?

Because it was artificial grass. No way would she have been able to get it all off. The grass was there to sit on, picnic on, enjoy not walk your dog on and let it poo there.

Tiptoethr0ughthetulips · 16/06/2017 16:02

Ha ha, I came on thinking someone had taught a dog to smoke a spliff. YABU, my dog only poos on grass but that doesn't mean it's every bit of grass he steps on...generally just twice a day. She picked it up, get over it.

ThymeLord · 16/06/2017 16:08

It's not particularly easy to stop a dog from shitting if it wants to shit. It happened, she picked it up, nobody was hurt as a result of a dog taking a crap on plastic grass.

Me too. Disappointed face Sad.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 16/06/2017 16:12

(Not really - I don't condone feeding weed to pets)!

LaurieFairyCake · 16/06/2017 16:12

It's not easy to stop a dog from shitting unless you're actually staring at it 24:7 and can recognise its poo face.

Mine crapped on a zebra crossing on Wednesday. It was bloody hilarious to me and the two cars that had stopped. They clapped once I'd picked it up GrinBlush

harderandharder2breathe · 16/06/2017 16:13

It happened, she picked it up, it's a non event

Suntrapped · 16/06/2017 16:13

YANBU. If you know your dog always poops on grass, keep it away from grass where people are sitting, picnicing etc! I hate seeing dogs poop in public. It's disgusting and unhygenic even if you scoop it. It spreads worms and diseases. It also stinks.

Why can't dogs be trained to poop at home eg in their garden? Service dogs and police dogs are trained to do this.

JigglyTuff · 16/06/2017 16:14

Oh god - when they stop for a crap when you're crossing the road! Mortifying

shinyredbus · 16/06/2017 16:15

Confused she picked it up didn't she? What did you expect her to do? Maybe she was embarrassed her dog did it and so exclaimed that she did.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 16/06/2017 16:15

I bloody hate bloody artificial grass.

It deserves to be shat on.

SpareChangeDownTheSofa · 16/06/2017 16:17

Because regular house dogs don't have a person dedicated specially to training them 24/7 like dogs this specialised do. People have realistic lives.

Also dog pooping while crossing the road is the worst Grin

Maudlinmaud · 16/06/2017 16:17

Victoria Square op?

Nancy91 · 16/06/2017 16:18

My dog loves going at awkward times that are embarrassing for me. I've had a similar situation Blush

They are trained to go on the grass and they don't have a high enough IQ that you can explain to them that the grass is artificial. The lady did all she could.

RoseVase2010 · 16/06/2017 16:22

So has everyone been asked to remove their outdoor shoes too?

HappenstanceMarmite · 16/06/2017 16:23

Phew! Thought this was a thread about a cannabis smoking hound 😬
